re: Tiki Tubing 2016 death toll - LSUtiger17
Navigable characteristics as related to the course of commerce. If we were talking about mooring a cargo ship- the answer would be yes. As far as tiki-tubers banging- I have no idea ...

re: Tiki Tubing 2016 death toll - LSUtiger17
I'm not sure about that. Hunting isn't within the navigable characteristics of a waterway. Neither is recreational fishing. Sandbars could be seen as islands, and owned by the state, or they may fall under accretion. Still, if it's between the low water and high watermark it's owned by the riparian ...
Are you sure it's not the high water mark?
The bank of a navigable river, between average annual low water and high water mark, is owned by the riparian landowner subject to a public use servitude consistent with the navigable characteristics of the waterway. ...

Websites for Learning French? - LSUtiger17
I'm leaving in a month to study in France for 2 months this summer, and would like to be able to somewhat get my point across and be able to read signs. Does anyone have any advise for websites or other cheap/free options for getting a basic overview of the language? I took Spanish in high school an...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - LSUtiger17
I have to brag on Temple Fork for a minute. I managed to break my BVK 8wt fishing out of Golden Meadow on MLK Day. I fish out of a kayak and was pushpoling around some islands, and was talking to a friend while I pushpoled backwards to turn around. Not paying attention, I pushed myself into an is...
Hatchery fish have their adipose fin clipped.
Is this true everywhere or does it depend on the region? I had thought that lessened color along with banged up fins from being in a tank was a pretty strong indication of a stocker. I'm pretty sure I've caught some fish on the Lower Moun...

re: Epic kayak sight fishing video - LSUtiger17
Any, but like all things, some are better than others.
There are plenty of kayaks that you can't stand up to use the bathroom, much less try to fish out of while standing. The wider the better for the most part. It'll be a little slower, but I have a massive kayak (Jackson Big Rig) ...

re: Fishing access, public/private water legislation - LSUtiger17
Doubt it. The people that own marsh and mineral rights in the marsh aren't about to let their interests get pushed aside over fishing. At this point it's pretty settled and the money is on the side of the landowners. It sucks for fishing but I doubt anything ever changes substantially. ...

re: Attorney for Smith family / Attorney for Hayes l Press Conference Recap - LSUtiger17
not ruling it out. Just weird to me that he would neutralize the wife with gun shot wounds. Esp when the lawyer himself said that Will was between the shooter and his wife.
Look at the placement of the shots. She's probably 5'6 or less. He was 6'3. She's shot below the waist and he's...
You really don't need 30lb for an 8wt. Look for 20 lbs
I got 30lbs for my 8wt solely because I use 20lb leaders often for redfish and would puke if I lost $100 worth of fly line. I don't know if that's flawed logic though....
SEClint
If the prosecution were to fail to prove intent to murder her as well while charging first degree, then the prosecution could lose the case. 2nd degree is probably the safe call. Obviously more facts are needed....

Yeah you should be there when it's supposed to be. Last year it was early, but I think that was due to the unusually warmer weather early on. Bozeman angler fly shop was really good to my friend and me They gave us good advice and it's a cool store right in the middle of town. ...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - LSUtiger17
I was in Bozeman late June last year. We just fished the Upper and Lower Madison the whole time because everything else was still blown out. I remember the Gallatin being smaller than the other rivers in the area, but we never fished it because it was chocolate at the time. You'll be fine in July th...

I would just do 13 hours and go fish in Colorado, but the Smokies would be fun too. I haven't been over there in years, but the option of fishing tailwaters in eastern TN along with streams in the Smokies is nice. The Watauga and South Holston are both good tailwaters from what I remember....

re: I have a hypothetical question on the public/ private water debate. - LSUtiger17
This has zero bearing on anything.
Actually it could matter a lot whether it was named a lake or a creek/river/stream on an old map. This could be used in the analysis of whether or not it was navigable in 1812....
Why not? It is private land
Not after the hypothetical. The state would acquire the new river bottom and compensate the landowner with the land that composes the now dry bed. ...

re: Fly Fishing Out West - Looking for Recommendations - LSUtiger17
Did an awesome DIY trip out of Bozeman this summer. Fished the Lower Madison for 2 days and then the Upper for 2 days on our way to Yellowstone. We caught fish, and there was plenty to do around town. Unfortunately we missed the salmonfly hatch by less than a week....
