Will this turn over?
It definitely wouldn't be ideal, and with big bugs I doubt it would work. If you're completely averse to tapered leaders, maybe try some 40lb in the butt section, or use a braided leader as they seem to be getting popular lately. ...

re: Broken Bow, OK - LSUtiger17
I think the park is really nice. There are a lot of fishing opportunities on the river, plus there's the lake where I'm sure you could take a boat out. There are some hiking trails around too. Besides that, the town looks to be pretty bare....

re: Greek islands recommendations - LSUtiger17
Where on Crete are you staying? We covered the entire northern western side of the island in a day, albeit I'm sure we missed a lot of sights. It seems like most of the nice sand beaches are on the western side of the island. It's a surprisingly large island, and travel takes a while because the roa...

re: My personal ranking of 9 popular vodkas - LSUtiger17
I spent two weeks in Poland over the summer and my girlfriend's family spent most of the time forcing me to 'sample' a ton of vodka. Everyone agreed this is the best over there, and it seems to be the big th...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - LSUtiger17
I went about 4.5 miles from the parking area and the river stayed more or less than same width. I talked with a guy who was staying at campsite 24, which was as far as I got, who said some guys camping above him were slaying them. I've been told that's where the big browns are.
Th...

That's great and there aren't many prettier places to catch a first fish than there. That's not easy water to fish either. We only went a couple of miles up river from Elkmont last week because we had to get to a tv for the LSU game. Does it get pretty narrow higher up? I've been fishing for a while...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - LSUtiger17
did y'all camp out there?
Yeah we camped in the front country camps at Elkmont and Cosby. Both are equally nice and definitely the most well kept camps that I've stayed at. There are some really nice trails close to each campsite plus they both have some good water to fish very clos...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - LSUtiger17
Went to the Smokies this weekend to test out my new Echo Glass 3wt and to try to get my girlfriend her first fish on a fly. The rod was a ton of fun to cast and she got a wild rainbow as her first on a fly. The weather and scenery were both amazing. Conditions for teaching someone to fly fish weren'...

Going to the Smokies this weekend to try to catch some backcountry brook trout. Also going after some stockers at some point to keep the gf interested . They just got some rain so the flows are up and the temperatures are dropping over today through the weekend so hopefully we'll hit it right. ...

Smoky Mountains for Labor Day - LSUtiger17
I'm looking at pulling together a last minute trip to the Smokies for Labor Day weekend since the forecast for the beach isn't looking great. I'm familiar with Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and really I'm not opposed to them, but I wouldn't mind staying away from those crowds for the most part either...

Thanks for the input. The blue halo's are great looking rods, and I've seen really good reviews, but I'd have trouble putting down $280 for a rod with no warranty. They do have an awesome instagram page so there's that haha. I'll look into the Echo's. I still haven't been down to Green Trout and I l...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - LSUtiger17
Does anyone have suggestions for a 3 wt rod and reel for around $300? I've never thrown anything lighter than a 5, but I'm looking at getting something to take to some mountain streams in the Smokies but also play with some smaller fish on some slightly larger water like Lower Mountain Fork. I'm a f...

re: London: Where to stay? - LSUtiger17
We stayed in Hotel Mercure in Bloomsbury. I thought it was a great location and for the price it was a pretty good value. We walked to every sight we went to. Less than a mile to Soho for drinks, 25 minute walk to Big Ben/Westminster/the Eye, Tower of London isn't too far. It's a very central locati...
Has anyone been to SC flood tide fishing? I think I'm going to go next summer.
I've always wanted to and my brother is now stationed out there for the next 7 months. Do you know if they have similar conditions in the winter or is it only a summer thing?...

re: For the love of ife, when will Europe fight back? - LSUtiger17
They seem to be trying too but it might be too little too late. I lived in France for 6 weeks this summer and have travelled across southern Europe during that time. In France there were armed soldiers with assault rifles and full body armor all over the place. Any event of any size and at every tra...
Everyone that doesnt know shite about switzerland is going to say Interlaken
Nothing wrong with Interlaken. Sure it's not your typical Swiss town, but it's close to 2 great ones in Thun and Spiez. Plus you can get to Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald from there very easily. It's a hub t...

If you go to Interlaken, make sure to spend half of the day in Lauterbrunnen. It's a 7 franc train away. One of the most amazing places I've been. It's like a fantasy world there...
