re: Falling in the water with your waders on... - LSUtiger17
Like the others have said, when it comes to fly fishing and wading in swift water, waterlogged waders are no good. ...

I'd choose Mena if you're only planning on hiking. But if you're looking to fish too, go with Broken Bow....

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - LSUtiger17
My dad bought me some Simms as my first pair of fly fishing waders when I was a kid. It's been 12 years and I still use them with no leaks. The waterproof zipper on the chest pocket broke last year, but other than that I've never had an issue with them. I may only cold water fish 5-10 days per year ...

Has anyone here flyfished for pompano in the Florida panhandle? I've seen that the guy that does Sandbar Flies seems to be pretty into them. I might be in the area for a week mid-May and am considering bringing my 8 weight along but I have no clue how to look or fish for them. ...
Now I'm leaning 4wt, ha
You'll be good either way. There's a strong chance that you'll end up getting another rod later on to cover all of the bases anyways ...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - LSUtiger17
A 5 wt would probably be a better overall rod, but you're right in that a 4 wt would be more fun with small fish. If you don't already have a rod, I'd start with a 5. That will cover all of your freshwater pond bases. It can handle wind, throw wooly buggers, poppers, and even streamers pretty well. ...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - LSUtiger17
One of the most common issues that I've seen in people that fish but are just learning to fly fish is their back cast. Everyone gets the forceful acceleration on the front cast, but the back cast is typically unnatural to most people that are used to fishing conventionally. Most of the time when I'm...

What bluemoons said on both the rod and reel. I have an 8wt bvk and it's great. I've read good things on the behemoth too. I have a 5 wt tfo pro ii that I use sometimes, and it's a great rod for the price. I've never fished it in an 8wt though. I expect you might want a little more backbone than it ...

Trespass and nuisance possibly. It would probably be cheaper and easier to just work it out with the neighbor and leave filing suit as a last resort....

Streetcars on St. Charles on Friday - LSUtiger17

I'd spend the full 2 days in Florence. The leaning tower isn't overly impressive, and besides that, Pisa is just panhandlers trying to sell you fake designer items....

re: Day trips from Lyon - LSUtiger17
Paris is a 2 hour train ride away. Avignon is nice too. Cannes and the coast are a 4 hour drive or 2 hour train away. Are you only spending the day, or do you have a weekend to work with. If it's a weekend, you could be anywhere in Southern Europe after a 3 hour flight or less. Don't overlook Lyo...
