Soccertards, need help picking a team

As stated yesterday in another soccer thread, I'm starting to become really interested in soccer. The Tottenham/Man City game was the first full match Ive ever watched, and I loved it.
Now I know league play is ending in the EPL, and international play at the World Cup is coming up. Of course Ill be rooting for the Yanks
But I need some assistance in picking a club team to follow. There are no MLS teams in Florida, and I have no idea who to root for overseas. Ive mostly been looking up EPL teams, and pretty much have read to pick anyone but Man U. Is Serie A in Italy easy to follow? I dont know guys, but help would be appreciated.

Just my opinion, but I think both La Liga and EPL are easier to watch than Serie A, based on the style of play. However, La Liga doesn't have as many games broadcast on television. Serie A is on FSC over the weekend, so it's easy to follow.
If you want an MLS team, just pick one and go with it. Since you are in Florida, you are kind of screwed geographically. How about Houston Dynamo or DC United? I guess those are your closest teams and both have good support.
As for the EPL, I don't have a team either. If you don't want to be like everyone else, go for Tottenham Hotspur or Aston Villa. Villa has an American owner, and neither team is going to go out and spend 500 million bucks on players like Manchester City (potentially).
If for some strange reason you follow Turkish soccer one day, please do not root for Galatasaray or Besiktas.

In general the EPL is the easiest to follow stateside with various outlets like ESPN and Fox Soccer Channel televising games regularly. The important thing is to let the club find you. Whether it's your love of the passion a club's fans or a particular player, the club will present itself to you. Arsenal found me (true story) when I noticed they had a player with my last name and I watched him in the 2006 World Cup and decided on Arsenal. Many people like Barcelona for their energetic beautiful style of soccer and La Liga games come on GolTV and ESPN (on occasion).

If you're looking for an EPL team I reccomend looking outside the major teams, although I think arsenal are on the verge of becoming a 2nd tier team. Also it would probably be beneficial to choose a team that won't face relegation. I personally pull for Fulham and Everton. I would stay away from serie a. FC Porto can always use extra supporters and we'd be happy to have you aboard

Well I'm an Arsenal fan (And I have legit reasons before I get yelled at by Tennessee Jed) BUT if I was going to go through the process of picking a team I'd go with Aston Villa. Pretty much because they aren't one of the clubs everyone picks, they are competitive, American owner like Keys said, and there are just other things I like about them such as current players, style, and uniforms. Hell even their manager. OK I feel wrong now.
I admit Tottenham would be a good choice too even though I'm supposed to hate them. I think a lot of things about Man City are interesting too but they have a megabillions rich owner now so it's up to you if you think that is good or bad.
Aston Villa, Man City, Tottenham, Fulham, and to a much lesser extent Everton are teams I'd look at.
ETA: If you do want to pick a top 4 team I think you can pick Liverpool or Arsenal and still have some pride left. The other two not so much.

Can't overstate this enough. There are many reason I love Liverpool, and all were realized when I was just casually watching soccer. Don't go out and just pick a team and follow them, watch a bunch of games and wait for something to jump out at you. It could be an incredible performance, passionate fans, or beautiful inspiring play. Keep your mind open and dont be afraid to pick an unpopular team. We need more parity on the MSB. It'd be nice to have someone other than Chelsea fans here.

From my viewing in terms of likable teams, Everton takes the cake.
Positives:
Tim Howard and Landon Donovan (for 10 weeks)
Tim Cahill, Steven Pinnear, Leighton Baines and Gary Neville are likeable players.
and most of all FELLAINI and his glorious afro.

If you're just getting into football, the EPL could be a good place to start, for all of the previously mentioned points, and then move on to check out other leagues. If you wanna stay away from the ManUtd's, Chelski's, Arse's, and Pools, maybe check out a team like Fulham or Everton who both have Americans on their roster? Aston Villa is another fun team to watch as well as Man City.
