Well, that sucked... nice to see the crowd in full voice towards the end!
We just were way out classed in this match, but all in all I'm not too pissed... the last goal was the only one that was really horrible..
edit: minor complaint... but I wish Sterling would have been taken off at some point.. though I cant argue with hendo, with the amount of minutes he plays and how much he runs...

Can Sturridge just get healthy already?
And can our back 5 learn how to defend set pieces?

I'd be happy if they learned how to just clear a fricking ball.. How many of those are we going to concede?!?

We should have bought a high quality striker with the money from Surarez. Ballotelli just doesn't have it and if sturridge continues to be injury prone it's going to be impossible to score. Ballotelli just doesn't seem like he cares out there at all and that pisses me off. He takes stupid shots and dribbles way to much rather than find simple passes. I'm actually shocked that he tracks back on defense sometimes(i think the second goal he could have moved an extra 2 feet to close down kroos but why do that right?). I just feel like we should give borini a shot. This is a guy that wanted to stay here knowing he'd ride the bench rather than being the star man at Sunderland. I just feel like everytime I watch ballotelli play the guy jus seems like he doesn't care about the team but only himself looking good. Just a very selfish player who should for sure have 1 more goal to his name for the amount of mins he's put in for the team.

Fortunately for us, Basel lost so we're still in good shape for the knockout stages.

Yep I'd be okay with giving Borini a shot. Honestly our biggest problem was lack of movement up front before Lallana hit a decent bit of form. One of Borini's strengths is his runs so why not. We can't score as is so we might as well try to get someone in there with loads of energy and works the opposing CBs

I just don't understand why we keep playing Balotelli as a lone striker. He's not as comfortable up there and obviously hasn't been productive up there alone. I think going forward without Sturridge, we either go with 2 strikers, or none like the second half and just have all our creative players interchanging and making runs

Does Lallana?

Is it official that we're recalling Origi in January?

Just a rumor. We would need to come to an agreement with Lille.

And I'm sure it would be a pretty expensive agreement

this was my biggest concern with him, and if you look back i said i didn't want any part of the signing.... for this very reason....
when he's scoring, he's happy and all is well, but if not, he looks disinterested and he's always disinterested defensively....
he's a big kid... he was a "star" from a young age, was pampered, and never really had to work hard for it.... and it's showing over the past couple of years, which is why with his immense talent (and it's definitely there), teams are willing to sell him...

will be nice to have, if possible, but i'm not getting my hopes up with this player quite yet....
he was impressive in the WC, but there are many stories of WC heroes that fall flat on their face in league competition, for reasons unbeknownst...

The only time Balo looks good is in the target role. Receiving the ball with his back to the goal from a long pass and dishing it to a teammate. Other than that he constantly makes the wrong decision or looks disinterested. If we are not going to play two up top, he needs to sit a lot more than he currently is.
I have a feeling BR is scared that to sit him would lose him.
But teammates actively try to not pass him the ball at times. Their runs aren't sharp becaus ethey have no idea if or when he'll pass the ball. There was one moment in the game where he passed the ball towards the right corner when Sterling has taken off towards the left corner well before the errant pass.
We tried, but failed to get some of the superstars for whatever reason. In a few years if BR can build up some more credibility we may have more success.
ETA - BAlo did have a nice cross to Allen. I also thought Cou and Henderson started out strong and I really thought we had a game going.

I forget who said it but Balo is about to be made a scapegoat of Liverpool's problems, just one of many

Real looked mediocre tonight, the class of players told the difference.
Nothing major occured to say it was an absolute drubbing, but Pool looked pretty weak.
Balotelli is not for yáll. Whatsoever.
I don´t know what to say as to your side going forward, but I´d be concerned.

And I actually thought Liverpool played better than I was expecting, at least in the second half. Sure, I understand that Real had let off the pedal a bit.
Balotelli is being played out of his position. If Rodgers isn't willing to give him a suitable partner, then he needs to go. We'll see what happens when Sturridge returns. If he ever returns.
I think we're all concerned. Thankfully Ludugorets won last night, so after we get crushed in our next fixture away to Real, then the real champions league begins for us. A 2 match mini-season away in Bulgaria, then host to Basel (and we still owe them).
Also we have Hull this weekend. Should be a win, and all of a sudden we could be in 3rd!
The sky has not completely fallen yet!

I like your positivity... Yeah, I'm concerned, but it's not all doom and gloom yet

Yep, we've got serious problems. Up front we look poor, and defensively is the same. I'm looking for Brendan to start making some serious decisions, such as maybe sitting Gerrard every now and then as well as Mario if he won't pair him with someone making runs.
