It feels like a good time to repost the Straus article from March 2013. This is a truly scathing read from over three years ago. It is amazing that 98% of this article still rings true. The only part that is wrong to me is seeing the German-Americans as outsiders. Jermaine and Fabian were definitely not yet appreciated.

We're like 90% sure that it was Bocanegra who leaked that, right?
Just seems too obvious... Dude gets called in for the WCQ v. Honduras only for Jurgen to give Deuce the armband right in front of him.
ETA: Also, I wonder if it is any coincidence that Jermaine went from an enigma to fricking savage after this article came out.

It makes sense. I really want to ask him.

No idea, but I assumed it may have more of a cultural thing. JJ is the man. I even got a Jermaine Jones jersey (the white golf polo from a couple years ago), but World Soccer Shop destroyed the lettering and numbering.

Looking at the 23 we called in for that Honduras match, Bocanegra was the only one who would never be called up again by Jurgen.
ETA: Reading through that SN piece again, it wouldn't shock me if Howard was one of the unnamed players.

Dude, spill the beans. You can't make a comment like that and not come good on it

Not possible, but I'm willing to listen.

Damnit, George, tell us

What is the basis for this opinion?
It's not really a fair bias I have towards Kreis to be fair. I don't get a good vibe from him for whatever reason. It's probably me, not him. Either way, I can't ever see him as the US manager. Not a big enough name or personality to handle that job.

Going to keep bumping this to the top until we hear from George.

Like I get that we needed new blood, because lets be real, Bocanegra wasn't going to go to Brazil.
But why the frick call him up just to do that then?

"To keep the players on their toes"
Nothing does like that like benching your captain out of the blue and inexplicably dropping your best player.

Yeah, I loved how he just benched Bradley when he was by far our best player, and then played him at right wing a few games
That should have been a red flag.

Just when I thought I couldn't hate Klinsmann any more than I already do.
VKC, I'm finding a way to buy you a beer when his tenure with US soccer is done. You've been with me on this since the beginning.

I'll settle for anybody who wouldn't put a petty personal squabble over the betterment of the team only a few months before the World motherfricking Cup.
