This should also help the MLS because tv contracts are up for negotiation later this year.

I went from hating this move to loving it.

Essentially he would have been battling for time and not really been in great form come WC time.

In this move he plays out the MLS season, gets a nice long winter break, then gets to play and be in midseason form with Donovan come the WC. This way 2 of our most influential players will be in mid season form, and given that LD and CD are older it will be good that they have less wear and tear on their body come WC time.

Stoked about the move. Will only draw interest to MLS both from American fans living here who follow the nats and I'm sure some people abroad, all of whom are interested in seeing how Dempsey does back in the MLS.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this. love it for MLS, love it for Dempsey financially (he's on ~£100k a week if you want an EPL conversion), but a little confused and bewildered it happen. shock is preventing me from truly comprehending the move. it's all rather odd since his thing the past two years has been wanting to play in the CL.

and while I appreciate your strong defense of the league, sheep, it is still far inferior to the EPL. it's closed the gap for sure, but there's a significant difference. it's an odd move down for a guy who relished the challenge and seemed to want more challenges.

it does make me lol at all the arsenal fans on here and elsewhere that were clamoring to sign him last year.

One thing...he will play in front of larger home crowds than he did at Tottenham and Fulham.

Tottenham's twitter just made the official announcement of the transfer to MLS.

I am fricking stoked for this. An MLS team pulls in a major talent and name before that player is broken and worn down? A player who is a home grown, legit Natty team star? A player who is now the highest paid league player? This is a move that forces the Portlands and Vancouver's to make moves of their own. An arms race right now, with soccer as popular as it is, is pure $$$$ for the MLS.

And posters in here, who mostly seem to want the MLS to succeed, are bitching? Your boy is getting paid, your boy will play, and the fans will love it and eat it up.

And people are bitching and disappointed? Get the frick out of here.

The Everton rumors made me aroused, I have to admit.

Still, I can't really fault Dempsey for setting himself up for life and returning home. Moreover, Seattle may be the best club to play for in North America. He will love the supporters and they will love him. He will have a chance to win trophies. He wanted a chance at the CL and he got it. He succeeded for 7 years in England. He gets the opportunity to further MLS. Tottenham is about to enter transition.

All in all, it makes sense. It surprised the hell outta me, but it makes sense.

Is it possible he will play for Seattle on the 17th? I'd make the trip to Houston for that game.

Mrs. Sheep wanted to go visit a friend in Frisco, TX on the weekend of the October 19th. The Sounders play FC Dallas that day.

I can't go.

Because work might be sending me to Amsterdam for a week.

If they send you, be prepared for a random drug test when you get back.
