This is the best and deepest Arsenal squad in at least the last 5 years and even though Giroud is a very good center forward, this is the year to buy an elite number 9. With a top tier forward, we should be able to compete with any team in the world. We know the money is there and Arsene on his last leg.

I watched way too many Benzema youtube videos once the rumors starting popping up.

Benzema

All depends on Real. If they sign Reuss, Benzema will feel he needs to move on. Plus, he has already played with our playmaker.

This summer, I have realized that my transition from a good, soccer hating American to a full blown soccer fig has come full circle. First, I completely forgot the home run derby was on while watching the USMNT in the Gold Cup. Now, everyday I start thinking about how excited I am for the start of Arsenal's season. This will be my 6th year following the Gunners. I never thought I'd look forward to watching soccer on my couch at 7 am more than watching LSU or the Saints.

Please let that plane that Benz's is on be headed to North London.

I am happy with the makeup of this squad. I hope our bad-luck run with injuries has passed for a few seasons.

I would be ecstatic with the signing of a world-class 9.

I like Giroud, but just don't feel he is the workhorse answer.

I think Giroud is going to come big this season. People forget he missed 3 months last season with a broken tibia.

He played in 36 games with 19 goals. Year before was 51 games with 22 goals. Clearly he has gotten better in goals per game since his arrival in London.

Yeah, I think with Giroud, Alexis, Theo, and Welbeck, we are fine at striker.

The only place I'm slightly worried is if Arteta or Coquelin get injured. Even then, we could just play two natural CMs without the DM and I think we'd be fine.

I'm eerily confident that we're going to win the league this year. I just think we have the best squad and a year of gelling under our belt. I actually think the worst thing that could happen is a Coquelin injury, because he's our stabilizer in midfield for big games.

I think it was 7AMkickoff who wrote about the possibility of running something similar to what Juventus ran last year and have Santi play a similar role to what Pirlo played

Yeah, I'm not sure I want to see Wenger adopt an entirely new tactical system, but the Juventus diamond would fit us well. Cazorla could play that DLP, Ramsey and Jack shuttling on the side, Ozil in the hole with two of Alexis, Theo, and Giroud in front of him. It would require an intelligence and awareness Ramsey and Wilshere haven't shown often together in that they'd need to cover for the other alongside Cazorla.

I feel comfortable with Ramsey and Santi in a double pivot if Coquelin and Arteta are both out.

I think we can even rotate Jack with Santi there.

However, that should not be a long term solution.

I didn't either, but watching LSU and the Saints feels like masochism at times.

If watching LSU and the Saints is masochism, wtf is watching Tulane?

It is most likely my soccer fandom growing, but part of it could be that this is the first year Arsenal is expected to be better than the other two comparatively speaking. Hell, my second year (2011, the golden Louisiana football season) watching Arsenal was the year the other 2 went 27-5 combined. I am very wary of this upcoming football season.
