Will Theo or Giroud start centrally?

Is that really a question at the moment? It would be nice if it was up in the air due to both of them having great play, but I feel like Giroud is currently the starting striker. I would think that is the case especially with his contract settled.

I like Theo at CF against weaker teams but for better teams in the league I don't think he is the answer. He is really effective on the right where his sometimes inconsistent finishing does not come into to play as much and over the years Theo has developed into a consistent distributor from the right. His delivery has improved so much from when he first arrived. I noticed when Theo plays Ozil becomes even more effective. We need at least one runner in the front three to open up defenses and give Ozil lanes to send those delicious through balls.

Is it a forgone conclusion that Scz would automatically unseat De Sanctis at Roma?

As a Roma fan, I hope he's good enough to beat out De Sanctis at some point early in the season.

However, it's a good point you make since De Sanctis will almost certainly be the starter until Szczesny beats him, especially considering the type loan deal that's being reported which would mean Roma is trying to cover their bases with two solid keepers for one season before going after another GK next summer.

In the biggest match of the season last year, Theo got the start, not Giroud.

Yeah, but Sczcesny started that game over Ospina as well. Theo may be the first choice over Giroud, but I wouldn't use the FA Cup final as a reasoning.

To be fair there were a few variables that led to Theo getting the nod against Villa. First Walcott was coming off a hat trick, secondly Giroud was going through dip in form, and lastly Arsene knew Villa wasn't going to sit back in two banks of four and makes us break them down. That's not how they play under Sherwood. All of this led to Arsene starting Theo. A masterstroke in my opinion.

Lot of factors to take into account there. For starters, Wenger wanted, and continues to want, Theo to stay and sign a new deal. He needed to give him some game time. That was an easy decision to make because Walcott was in good form and Giroud had cooled off. Also we were playing Aston Villa, a perfect example of the lower level competiton Wenger has so far favored playing Walcott against.

Something to take into consideration, Giroud has shown over the past two seasons that when he's fresh he's one of the best strikers in the EPL. When he gets worn into the ground due to lack of rotation and rest, he suffers. I think there will be plenty of time to use Walcott against the smaller teams, and rest Giroud for the
big ones.

Most importanly, Giroud seems to work really well with Ramsey and Ozil for whatever reason. Those three have great chemistry together, and if for nothing else Giroud will be our A team striker for that.

Giroud's strike rate against top 4 teams is pitiful though.

This. That's why it seems Arsene is looking for class striker that can produce in the big games.

Well the entire team's performance is pitiful to be fair. Just like the team was better last year so was he. Goals against Man U, Man City, Liverpool, and Dortmund. Has a very good record against the second tier teams as well, Everton, Tottenham, Southhampton.

The only team he's never had success against is Chelsea. Which again, the whole team never has

Our struggles against the top 4 have been frustrating to say the least. It's like we aren't mentally prepared for those big games. We come out flat. The only times I felt like we didn't was the first Chelsea game (which we still lost, but to our credit Cahill should have had an early red, which wasn't given) and away to Man City.

I mean we beat United at OT in the FA Cup. The first time we played them in the league was at the peak of the injury crisis, the lineup is painful to go back and look at. We still should have beaten them that day.

City: Should have beaten them at home. We were up 2-1 then Debuchy had that really bad injury, gave up a goal on some shitty set piece defending. Won at their place.

Chelsea: I actually agree that I think we played better in the 2-0 defeat then we did in 0-0 draw. I do think there is a real mental block we have to get past to finally knock them off.

Liverpool: Gave up a 95th minute header at Anfield for a draw and crushed them at home.

Where we really fricked up imo was only getting 4 points out of the 6 games against Spurs, Southhampton, and Swansea.

This is the best and deepest Arsenal squad in at least the last 5 years and even though Giroud is a very good center forward, this is the year to buy an elite number 9. With a top tier forward, we should be able to compete with any team in the world. We know the money is there and Arsene on his last leg.

At The Emirates against ManU we had 11 shots on target to 1 and lost 2-1. DeGea was a monster. We destroyed them that entire match. We beat ManU at Old Trafford in the FA Cup and drew in the league. Drew City at home as well. The tide turned last season and is going to really turn this year.

Ye of little faith, the time is NOW!!!
