pretty bad. Rambo out for at least a month. arteta for 3 weeks. at least this probably means death to the 4141.
I'm debating watching the Chelsea match. just don't want to cry when cesc torches flamini.

Let the Diaby DM transformation begin!
I'm sick to death of Flamini. Just play Diaby or Coquelin.

i'm at the point where if arsene started coquelin or hayden there i'd think, while knowing one's shite and the other isn't ready, "yeah, probably a good call. at least worth a chance!"
i think we could catch chelsea on the break, though perhaps i'm giving arsene more credit for tactical flexibility than he's earned. it'll be a tough match but we're gonna need to absorb pressure with flamini and, hopefully, jack deep, alexis and ox tracking back, and then keeping ozil and welbz forward for quick counters. will be interesting to see if jose does what he has in other big matches so far (willian wide, cesc 10, ramires CM with Matic) or if he goes with his typical top XI against lesser teams (schurrle wide, oscar 10, cesc CM). we could counter more easily against the latter, which is probably why we won't see it. that said, oscar would be better at pressing flamini than cesc will. could be helpful for us to give our worst passer that extra split second to make a decision.

Got to talking with a friend who's a Chelsea fan ... Arsenal are DEPLETED right now. Technically, we are w/o our first-choice: RB (Debuchy), DM (Arteta), both CMs (Jack & Ramsey), RW (Walcott), and Striker (Giroud)

Wait, what's wrong with Diaby now?

So, who do y'all think fills in the midfield void while Arteta and Ramsey heal for a month or so? Also, who starts tomorrow if Jack can't play?

Ox will get a lot of run in the middle.
Flamini will play a ton sadly. Thank God for interlull.

Apparently Diaby was training so he must've just been left out of the squad.

I'm ok with Ox in the middle. He looked great there at times last year.

Coquelin could get a bit of a run if Flamini continues to have such poor form.
Hopefully Diaby can get a run against some of the lower table teams in his new position just to get used to the play again in less of a high profile game.

they're handling diaby with kid gloves, which is probably the right idea. he played his first senior level match in awhile last week and should be eased back. it's precautionary more than anything. i don't think he's physically capable of going out there and performing in an important CL tie right now.
unfortunately, apparently AW thinks that flamini is the only viable option at DM. (according to Jeremy Wilson of the telegraph).

I believe Diaby's issue is that he's been slow to build his fitness up to a level they are comfortable with.

Personally, I hope this injury situation means we see more of the 4-2-3-1 set up that most of the players are already used to playing.
Since it looks pretty clear that Flamini is about to get a run of games, I hope we would set up something like this ...
Sczcesny
Chambers, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs
Flamini, Wilshere
Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, Alexis
Welbeck
I think we actually got a little bit of a spark when Cazorla came on at the end of the first half against Spurs, and that carried over to more threatening play early in the second half. It was a noticeable change if you go back and watch more of it. Alexis has to be in to start games in my opinion, but if Wenger wants to rotate him a little bit like he is showing at the moment, Cazorla would be my pick to come in and play on the left side.
I just love the way Ox is playing right now and think he deserves to stay in the team at the moment. I think his directness at times is a great benefit since he seems to be one of the few players we have who likes to take on the opposing team's left back one-on-one and drive to goal. This opens so much up for the rest of the team in and around the box. I have no clue what the stats are on this, but I bet he has as many or more entries into the penalty area than any other player in the side this season based on the amount of time he's actually played. Loves to beat a defender and get end line or in the box, and I love that about The Ox!
After the Chelsea game and international break, our league schedule lightens up considerably heading into mid December where we play in succession ...
Hull City (H)
Sunderland (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea City (A)
Manchester United (H)
West Bromwich Albion (A)
Southampton (H)
Stoke City (A)
Newcastle (H)
Knowing this, would this be a good time to experiment with maybe giving Chambers a run at that holding midfield role against some of the "lesser" teams? I know you cannot take anything for granted in this league, but if he were to cut his teeth in that position with Hector Bellerin given more time as well say in home matches against Hull, Burnley, Newcastle, etc., could that be of benefit as we move into the second half of the league season?
What say you experts of the Arsenal thread?

I think this weekend is a big game but that stretch you just mentioned is much more important for our season. We need to get healthy and collect at worst 22 out of 27 points. Ideally we take between 25-27, those are 6 gimmes, one tough road game(Swansea), and we get the two toughest teams in that group(Man U and Southhampton) at home.
