All I'm saying is that the people getting upset over this sound beta as frick in doing so.
Why the hell should I care that, for example, Peter Griffin is portrayed as an idiotic buffoon in Family Guy? How insecure would I have to be to even consider complaining about it?

So this is a thread about overly sensitive men bitching about how modern media portrays men as limp wristed pussies? I really hope I'm not the only one able to appreciate the irony here.
A man so wrapped up in how his gender is portrayed and so easily rustled has no business talking about the media emasculating them. Grow a pair.
I believe it is having an impact on young men and boys in this country. Seems like I remember something about male college enrollment being on a downward slide for some time now, among other things. Laura Bush talked about this regularly when she was FLOTUS.
I am always interested in the messages being put out in media and culture, regardless of topic.

Backatcha Sistah.
Now you think these guys will let us clean up this sand box and put their things away, where they can't find them?

Getting back to the OP...
Only white straight men can be described as idiots.
Racial minorities, gays and women are protected classes due to political correctness.
IRL the smartest most competent people I've met are white straight males.
My own wife, the lovely Lucy, is very intelligent. But I wouldn't trust her to walk across the room with a bowl of pretzels because she would spill it and knock down a table lamp.

But yet let a homosexual atheist be portrayed in a negative light and you would no doubt be here sounding the alarm.

Go some further:
The only criminals ever portrayed in commercials are white males. Has anyone ever seen an ADT commercial with a black male breaking into a house?
Every cookout or garden party shown in a commercial will involved a white couple, black couple, and some asians.

They're told by raging feminists that they don't need men, but then see in Pop Culture themselves glorified as nothing more than sex objects.
Damn, I can't think of a better way to describe the perils of modern women.

I agree with this.

I give not one single frick if a show chooses to make fun of queers or atheists or anyone else, but I also have a normal sized dick, a hot wife and a great life so maybe I'm not really able to give a relevant responses in the context of this discussion.

Based on your posting history, I suspect this is because you rarely associate with any other type of individual.
The top ten people in my med school class include a black guy, two black girls, two gay guys, two Asians and a white girl. The smartest doctor I've ever met was an a female cardio thoracic surgeon.
Less than 10% of the people on earth are straight Caucasian males. There are a lot of brilliant people who don't look like you

Yeah, you're coming across as real secure in this thread.

I don't believe you.

Maybe providing some sort of substantive thought relating to cultural influences of media portrayals is beyond you? That's OK. You can also go here and entertain us with your thoughts.

Why are only men idiots in commercials?
Simple, women spend more $$ than men. Make women feel good, they spend more $$$ or get their man to spend more thinking her might get a few pumps in. :pussyisahellofadrug:

Ignoring for a moment that this destroys the "all gender roles are biological" position many here hold, why should I care? I was bombarded with the same messages growing up and it didn't turn me into a timid self conscious pussy. If someone chooses to base their personality on sitcoms and credit card commercials, they probably weren't gonna be the go getter type anyway.

I dunno. Why care about anything that doesn't directly affect you at the moment? You aren't obligated. Some of us find this interesting.

My thoughts are this: If sitcoms and commercials influence you so much that you base your personality on them, you aren't worth worrying about. If you aren't that type of person, why give a shite?
Besides, plenty of shows have hardcore white alpha male leads (House of Cards, BB, Mad Men, Walking dead for the first two seasons, etc) and plenty more have dumbass women (Two broke girls), women as sex objects (MM), evil minority antagonists (BB), etc.
