Is trump funding this research?

Trump, in your eyes, has authority to censor science that we, the public, fund.

I'm pretty sure this is false. Wasn't the statement that it be peer-reviewed prior to use in political discussion or something like that?

Independent scientists can test and comment.

sure.

But who pays for that? Local gov create a new 6 figure position and purchase the required equipment? or private company that may not have credentials to analyze certain situations or take a month to mobilize?

What if the data that Trump's staff has is conflicting with what the EPA wants to release?
Under what circumstances would the White House have data independent of the EPA? I don't think there are scientists on Trump's staff, so they wouldn't have any method of conducting independent data collection.

I guess they could solicit some data collection from another agency or a state, but even in that case, I don't see why you wouldn't want all data released, since it would be better for conflicts to be resolved by peer review rather than the administration thumbing the scale for a preferred conclusion.

I see a lot of people describing this as 'science'. They seem to be confusing the political nature of the EPA and the difference between modeling and science

I see people confusing/conflating information with the dissemination of information.

The EPA also funds plenty of real science

I wonder if this is the same type of "breaking" news that's been debunked in the last two days (social media, black sites)

You don't think the admin could have access to outside data that could counter the EPA's data? I think there could very well be independent study data that could disagree with EPA info. Why release the EPA info as gospel just because it's the EPA?

Just because you don't want to believe something, that doesn't make it false

You don't release it as gospel

You just release it

Let others dissect and disprove it

That is how science works

That is not what happens nowadays. Peer review is dead

You think a White House denial of something constitutes "debunking?"
