Dear Diary,

Today, on Day Three Of the Trump Presidency, before his Cabinet is in place, and while the Political/Media/Cultural Establishment is in full meltdown mode, I went on the message board and joined in wagging my finger at President Trump. Because there was not enough finger-wagging yet. I was happy to join hands with his Progressive enemies in the streets and the media, because that's what principled people do on day three of a new Presidency, even after eight years of Progressive Declinism. Not his hysterical critics on every front, but him. It was a good day.

Clever but is in need of editing.

Dear Diary,

Today, on Day Three Of the Trump Presidency, before his Cabinet is in place, and while the Political/Media/Cultural Establishment is in full meltdown mode, I went on the message board and reminded conservatives Trump does not always take conservative positions. Because many conservatives seemed to be caught in a state of irrational exuberance, I was happy to warn of wrong headed Trump initiatives, because that's what principled, conservative people do on day three of a new Presidency. Even after eight years of Progressive Declinism we must hold our politicians feet to the fire. We watched republicans swap principle for power under Bush and DeLay. It was a good day.

I said that must not represent a danger to the country. Certainly all muslims are not threats to the country.

3) he is right on school choice and I think DeVos may have been his most important appointment. If we can move to universal school choice it will be wonderful.

Where has the school choice model worked? Please do not use Nola or DC as examples.

It means work visas for an unlimited number of people that meet the criteria. It is a much more limiting stance than what we have today.

The people have to already have a job lined up here before they get a visa and they have to have bought health insurance and they have to have an address BEFORE they even come.

It means their employer will basically have to sponsor them.

so, the more people that are in gov't jobs, the more corrupt the gov't is? this makes no sense. none at all. judging by history, and common sense, one would say that the fewer people that hold power the MORE corrupt the gov't is likely to be.

The Federal bureaucracy needs to shrink and power needs to go back to the state level, there is too much redundancy from the state government up to the federal government. A classic example is the USDA and Dept of Agriculture, every state could handle these two federal behemoths functions at half the cost.

Why not DC and NOLA--are you upset because people there like the choices they have?

Any individual that is willing to cross rivers, deserts, and risk their lives to get here should be a citizen so long as they haven't committed a violent crime. Without illegals the economy collapses so legalize them and make them citizens.

I agree so long as their motivation is not welfare. Unfortunately we are attracting far too many people who simply want our welfare.

I respectly disagree with you sir. Nowadays i believe that islam is more of a political movement. 99.9 percent of them want us infidels dead. Its ingrained in them since birth.

Dude! Hello? We cant even ask people to show an ID to vote

And you want unlimited immigration, based on them agreeing to follow rules?

I am not sure if the combined population of the Middle East Arab countries is as large as the population of Indonesia. It can't be much larger as over 250 million people live in Indonesia and most Arab countries are not very large population wise. For example the population of Qatar is only about 2 million.

Here you go

LINK

If you add in Egypt and Turkey it is larger but without them and you consider only the Middle East it is only 218 million. So there are more Muslim in Indonesia than in all the Middle Eastern countries we are having so much trouble with.

You mean Trump can't fix that???

You think Trump is going to deport all the illegals?? You are very naive if you do.

If you are referring to K-12 educatio, school choice has not worked in DC, NOLA or Baton Rouge for that matter. It has worked for parents in those places who the current system works for. Parents who are educated and have the time resources and connections to navigate the system.

School choice has not worked for the overwhelming majority of school aged children in those areas. Especially children who come from low socio economic backgrounds

The GI Bill works. It should work. It is utilized by self disciplined college bound adults. The k-12 system is another matter altogether

Oh BS. You just don't like it that the parents that do have choice like it.

I want all parents to have school choice.

It will result in smaller, more responsive schools, better paid teachers and much less bureaucracy. We should end government schools tomorrow and spin them off as private entities so the teachers in the classrooms can run their schools without government interference.

We should give very large vouchers to special need children so schools can accommodate them.

I will put you down as preferring the train wrecks throughout the state and the country that are government run schools systems.

Why anyone wants a return to the corruption NONE of you were working to stop in New Orleans pre Katrina is beyond me.

The system we have today is arcane; filled with well paid bureaucrats drawing lines while dictating where families will have to send kids if they are to enjoy the public financed educations for their children they have been taxed for.

You simply want to pull everybody down into whatever BS school the bureaucracy deems.

You would rather people have to use St. Helena Parish quality schools than to have choice.

It is insanity.

My friends and I are those parents the system works for. We are very fortunate. The system worked for many of them pre Katrina.

The problem with our education system is not bureaucracy or bad teachers or unions or whatever straw man you want to attack.

The problem with our education system is poverty pure and simple. Louisiana is one of the poorest state's so our education system is affected exponentially more than other states.

Schools where the majority of the students come from poverty struggle. Schools that where the majority of students come from middle class and wealthy backgrounds do not. It is as simple as that. The United States ranks in the top 5 in K-12 education when poverty is accounted for.

There is no evidence that supports charter schools being better for students who come from poverty. In fact most evidence shows the opposite.
