Oh, you sound like a winner. If he didn't want people to comment on it, he shouldn't have posted it.

Commenting on it is one thing.

Getting butthurt about someone elses personal decisions is another

No one is butthurt. They've expressed valid reasons why it's detrimental to society to avoid your constitutional duties.

I could give two actual shits if he did it, but if I was a judge and caught him in it, I would make him regret that decision.

Have him show up with a copy of either a Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh book.

Last time I was called for jury duty the judge asked if anyone would hold it against the defendant for not taking the stand to testify......I raised my hand. The judge called me to the bench and said you do know it's the defendants right not to testify. I said "yes mam, but it's for a traffic ticket"........"You're excused"

How would you like to be judged by 12 people who didn't have a reason to avoid jury duty?

Very few people would have a legitimate reason to avoid jury service unless they lied.

I was called to jury duty once like 8 years ago. I had to provide documentation from my child's doctor that I am his caregiver and couldn't be spared. They were very nice about it. But, I have never been called back. I wonder if that stays on file or something?

I was both accepted and rejected as a juror in a trial. I was told that it was for robbery suspect. I was also on a murder jury once, too, and I was the first juror selected.

When I was questioned in the robbery trial, I was being questioned by the assistant district attorney. She asked me if I could be impartial and I said "that depends". She said, "What do you mean?" So I said that I was more than willing to do my duty, but that I didn't want to waste their time or mine, either. She asked, "How would you be wasting our time?"

I told her, the judge and the defense attorney that if at any time during the trial I went ahead and made up my mind that the defendant was guilty or innocent I would have to let the other jurors, the judge and the attorney know it because it would not be fair to the defendant. I said, "every defendant deserves a fair trial and I know myself well enough to know that if I don't think I can be impartial through the entire trial, I will either have to excuse myself from the jury or let the judge know that I can't remain impartial." The assistant district attorney said, "we don't have any more questions."

The defense attorney stood and said, "we don't have any more questions. We accept him as a juror". Then the assistant district attorney stood us and said, "we will reject this person as a juror."

And that was that. I wasn't trying to get out of it. I think every defendant deserves a fair and impartial jury and I was just being honest. Maybe your friend, who will be under oath, by the way, should consider being honest.

I generally agree. However, I've found that honesty can get you in trouble. Suppose your wife or girl friend asks "Hubba Bubba, dear, does this outfit make me look fat?"

And suppose she is 5-3, 150. What is your answer? Hmmmm?

I got rejected once because they asked if any relatives were policemen. My f-i-l was. Rejected a second time because I was an insurance claims adjuster. Got called every two years like clockwork while no one else in my family did. Moved to another parish and STILL got summons from EBR at my parents home every two years.

Say the most racist and sexist shite that's humanly possible to the judge.

I wonder if that approach really works.

If she is already 5-3 and 150, then the honest answer is,
quote:

NO! That dress does NOT make you look fat.
Of course, that doesn't mean you tell her she looks a bit puffy already.

Well, for one, if I'm ever in the unfortunate situation to require a jury when I'm innocent of a crime...I want 12 competent people there.
