That's empirically untrue.

We ran the studies.

All male units outperformed mixed and female only units, and it wasn't close.

Go away

"Last week, in testimony on the scandal before the Senate Armed Services committee, General Robert Neller, commandant of the Marine Corps, recalled the heroism and sacrifice of women Marines in the post-9/11 wars. “How much more do the females of the Corps have to do to be accepted? Was it enough when Major Megan McClung was killed by an IED in Ramadi?” Neller asked. McClung was the Naval Academy’s first female graduate to be killed in action. “Or Captain Jennifer Harris, killed when her helicopter was shot down while she was flying blood from Baghdad to Fallujah Surgical? Or Corporals Jennifer Parcell, Holly Ann Charette, and Ramona Valdez—all killed by the hands of our enemies? What is it going to take to accept these Marines as Marines?”

I recently came across a ten year celebration of her life on Facebook.

Being a Marine has nothing to do with physical strength. Many very physically strong people will never be Marines.

Haven't you heard? Honor Courage and Commitment.

These tests were designed to emulate combat conditions. They weren't being evaluated on the number of push-ups they could do.

What were they tested on? Well..,

Women did poorly in marksmanship, with heavy weapons being a particular issue although their accuracy with the m4 was also poor.

True story - Cameron must have really liked that gal (Jenette Goldstein).

She was young John Connor's foster mother in Terminator 2, and an Irish mother in Titanic.

I've heard of humping a ruck, carrying wounded marines to safety, and man handling heavy weapons.

I've also heard that Russian and Israeli studies of co-ed combat units resulted in higher than necessary male casualties.

I do not question their bravery or courage, I would never question the honor of any woman not selling it to me, nor do I doubt their commitment. I also do not question their intelligence, patriotism, nor non combat competence.

But I do question the acceptability of any recruiting who gets any reduced fitness test be they mental, emotional, or physical.

By your past posts I assume that not only were/are you a Marine, but you were a combat veteran. If I am correct on either, you have my undying respect, admiration, and gratitude. But this doesn't make you an expert on women in combat.

The Air Force already encompasses these duties. This sounds political and wasteful.

Why else would someone suggest a whole new branch of the military that requires infrastructure, personnel, and funding other than politics? These duties are already being fulfilled by the USAF Space Command. Why spend money on a whole new branch of the service? Because politicians see an opportunity to political success.

Because the Air Force doesn't focus enoughattention on it? Although I think my idea on page 2 is better.

No reason to add another branch and even more bureaucracy. Just have congress provide the correct oversight on the USAF. ingress hasn't been doing that for over a decade, but it is their job. Creating more bureaucracy isn't.

I'd also throw out nuclear mission in there, make the Air Force and Army national guard functions and increase the size of the Navy. My plan would have two large branches. The Navy(and Marines) and the "Strategic" force, which would handle space, cyber, nuclear.
This is pretty stupid even for a jarhead.

Typical Marine, that chip on the shoulder is soooo evident.
