The House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) yesterday, including legislation that would require the Air Force to create a new branch of the military called the 'Space Corps' by the beginning of 2019. The Space Corps would replace the Air Force's current space departments and receive more funding as well as its own command.

It's happening baws.

Does that mean the Pentagon will now be the Hexagon?

Damn, should have written my Congressman to insist upon naval rank instead of Army Air Corps derived Air Force rank. Admiral of the American Space Fleet sounds so much better than General of a Space fighter squadron!

Unfortunately he's still in the hospital with a libtard inflicted gunshot wound.

When does it go to the Senate? Last I checked they were both not shot.

The creation of a Space Corps is also opposed by Air Force leadership and Secretary of Defense James Mattis along with the Trump administration. The White House issued a statement about the NDAA this past week that said space defense needed to be addressed, "the creation of a separate Space Corps, however, is premature at this time."

They'll just have to get the frick over it.

Space is something that the United States will have to start planning ahead for before other countries catch us on this topic and start investing in this.

I think the House and Senate plans should be combined.

quote:

The Senate's current version of the NDAA seems to agree. Rather than creating an entirely new military branch, the Senate bill would create a new Chief Information Warfare Officer (CIWO) in the Defense Department to oversee "cybersecurity and cyber warfare, space and space launch systems, electronic warfare, and the electromagnetic spectrum."

A new branch that is responsible for all of the above missions, as opposed to a branch solely for space and all of the other branches half assingthe other high-tech missions. I'd also throw out nuclear mission in there, make the Air Force and Army national guard functions and increase the size of the Navy. My plan would have two large branches. The Navy(and Marines) and the "Strategic" force, which would handle space, cyber, nuclear.

Some things are worth paying for and that includes American dominance in a new frontier before anyone else gets there.
