Will result in a quick influx of resources and a quick exodus of rich people. Will set them up for failure in a few short years.

Let's just sit back and watch the train wreck. This is one of those "teachable moments" unfolding right before our eyes.

re: New French President wants 75% Tax
I think that would be the highest tax rate in the world no?

I think the highest is currently Sweden and they're in the 60s.

I, too, think it is ridiculous. However, surely this is a MARGINAL tax...no?

Because they care about their fellow man, obviously. Go live in an empty field you unsympathetic a-hole.

But on a side note, they also are supposed to roll the retirement age back to 60, from 62

Awww, sorry to disappoint you...

quote:

Wealthy French people are looking to London as a refuge from fresh taxes on high earners pledged by candidates in the country’s presidential elections.
The “soak the rich” rhetoric that has punctuated the presidential campaign has prompted a sharp rise in the numbers weighing a move across the Channel, according to London-based wealth managers, lawyers and property agents specialising in French clients.

François Hollande, the Socialist candidate who leads the presidential race after the first round of voting last week, wants to impose a tax rate of 75 per cent on income above €1m and at the launch of his bid in January said: “My true adversary in this battle has no name, no face, no party ... It is the world of finance.”

It's true. The new frog president proposed it during the campaign.

America was at its best when it had high taxes on the rich like what France is proposing.

The largest concentration of French outside of France is London....the oppressiveness of France isn't new or much better than what is being proposed...France is a basket-case, but not on a Greek-tragedy level.
