Gun Ownership and Crimes by Country
The UK has 62.6 million citizens. Switzerland has 7.9 million, so Switzerland has only about 12.6% of the UK's population. In 2007, the UK had 41 gun related homicides. Switzerland had 57. Clearly, the rate was exponentially higher here, but conservatives would, likely, simply argue that crimes were committed with hammers, cars, rolling pins, toilet paper, etc. So we need to, additionally, look at overall homicide rates. In the UK, the homicide rate is 1.2, with total homicides coming in at 722. In Switzerland, it was 1.0 with homicides totaling 79. We've already seen that Switzerland has only 12.6% of the UK's population, so we need to look at, proportionally, how many homicides Switzerland had. Populations being equal, the UK would have had 722 total homicides, to Switzerland's 626.
Switzerland has the 3rd most guns per person in the world. It's obvious that for the UK to lessen it's murder rate it needs to issue guns to it's populace like Switzerland does. Gun obviously keep people from being murdered.
Oh wait. Maybe there are other factors involved. But hey... Reality is unknown to Liberals.
