I'm sure you meant this "tongue and cheek".

If you have to register for a car/ license then how about a gun?

I'm not sure what you're going for here. If someone mangled that expression, it wasn't me. The answer is no.

Because cars don't really defend against an oppressive government

Come off it with these guns.

The oppressive government? Please, you hillbillies are always fear mongering about the coming war with government.

I'll come off with these guns when you come off it with the DoE, the DHS, the IRS, the Fed, the CIA, the FCC, the EPA, Obamacare, the FDA, the corporate/media oligopoly, et fricking cetera. We are a communist country. 2nd Amendment is the only thing that has kept us from the killing fields (Ruby Ridge and Waco notwithstanding)

The revolution is going to happen, or we will continue our march toward absolute tyranny. You should support those militia groups out in Idaho (The ones our government-controlled media hilariously labels "far right racist Nazis"). They are the ones who will save you.

You're completely insane genro

It's hard to imagine someone actually believing what you just posted. Go to bed.

Right. It's much easier to label, slander, and marginalize someone than actually debate them and try to learn something.

I used to be like you. I didn't go crazy, I became more educated.

I've always enjoyed our discussions.

I think you are extremely bright. I'm just surprised you believe the 2nd amendment has zero limitations.

How about voting?

Most states place some requirements on voting.

Freedom of speech?

There are limitations to what you can say.

Democracy is the last stage of a dying empire. It's basic mob rule. If gov't controls the message, the situation becomes more dire. Dumb the people down, then appeal to the lowest common denominator - racial/class division, memes, etc. The ancient philosophers of Greece and Rome understood this, which deeply influenced the Enlightenment, which in turn influenced our Founders.

We're not supposed to be a democracy. We're damn sure not supposed to "spread democracy." Our gov't/media touting the "powers of our great democracy" is pure red meat distraction from the fact that the republic is dead, and elections are meaningless (which about half of our population can apparently sense).

Freedom of speech should have no limit. It means shouting "theater!" in a crowded fire. The most "dangerous" speech should be the most protected. Rights are always taken away in the name of safety, whether it's Soviet Russia or modern America or ancient Egypt. The people always fall for it. The biggest way they take it away now is by slandering/ridiculing any opposition and PC thought-crime

That is awesome.

Pure fantasy. 80% chance you catch a round in the back of the head from a fellow patriot who got a little excited and 20% chance you get a 5.56 round in the orbital from someone that has 15 minutes of infantry training.

But don't let that stop you.

Isn't that about 25,000 less than our current active duty armed forces?

There is no reason any civilian should need to own an AR

Interestingly enough, slander is a viable exception to the first amendment.

There is no reason any civilian should own a Ferrari.

There is no reason any civilian should own a 17,000 sq. ft. home.

You can go on and on with this analysis, but in a free society, we are supposed to reject such assertions.

What is magic about any semi-automatic rifle? The technology is over 100 years old.

The good news is that freedom is spreading through the internet. And commerce hasn't quite let go of it yet. However, Big Brother is aware of this and both seeks to use it for surveillance and is working hard on at least clamping down in a crisis (internet killswitch, etc.)

But, people are so completely accustomed to it being free and open, even in relatively closed societies, it will be difficult to close that Pandora's Box.

Who is going to stop the 3.1 million rebels? The leftys? It would have to be because it sure as hell wouldn't be the military.

I'm liberal, I have a hand gun and I'm not outraged.

But thanks for starting yet another thread built on a faulty premise so that you can score points in a game that doesn't exist.
