2 - no gas, no power to make the pumps work. And those stations and truck stops that had generators couldn't get resupplied because of trees down or because of the distribution center being overloaded.

We are prioritizing the ability to flee by land over the ability to shelter in place. When the next major (9-11 size) terrorist attack hits the United States - and it will, as historically we know Republican Presidents are horrible at preventing major terrorist attacks - the President will be able to obliterate all civil liberties in a few short days. It may be wise to exit the United States before he closes the borders.

Funny, I do not consider myself a "prepper" and I am not sitting around waiting on the end of the world either but I do have preps and I do have plans in the event that "something" should happen... I happen to live in a area where the possibility of evacuation is very real and where extended periods without power are very real...
Sorry but I do not want to rush to the grocery store and stand in line and get frustrated with all the stupidity...
Now, what you are seeing today is a glamorization of the end of the world AND a bunch of people that have figured out how to market within the prepper mindset... Personally, I think all the marketing devalues the aspects of being prepared but as with anything else, if there is a buck to be made and a fool to separate from his money then there will always be someone there willing to do it...

Must be why I've see MSNBC commercials 10-1 on Fox News over what you see as doomsday prep.
Everyone should make emergency preparations for natural disasters like hurricanes and man made ones like a BLM riot/looting/arson event.
Long term food storage and inflation resistant gold is like a fire extinguisher. You hope it's never used, but when you need it there's no substitute!

You will not die without food after 3 weeks. Especially the fat slobs with massive fat stores. And that's assuming you are starting with zero food in your fridge and pantries.
Correct. If power goes out for any extended period of time, water stops flowing. Pumps are required to move water, clean it, and send it to the water towers. Also gas pumps won't work. So once your tank runs empty, you're on foot. Which also means deliveries to stores will stop of the outage is widespread.
Now consider all the things that have the potential to take down the grid: War. EMP. Solar flare. Hacking. Weather event. Volcano/earthquake. Meteor. Aliens. (Had to throw that last one in there for the tin foil hat crowd)
And my reference was that the human body can generally go about 3 weeks without food.
So again - any prolonged power outage. What's your plan?

What so many of these know-it-all sheeple people types are evidently unaware of is the fact that there have been no less than two dozen attacks on our grid over the course of the past few years. Up and down the west coast including the main substation that supplies silicon valley and from there all the way up into Northern California, Washington and Oregon.
Also, there was an attack last year on the Maryland substation that supplies D.C. ... which left the nation's capital powerless in some areas for much of the work day.
The bad guys want to take down our grid, and they'll keep probing until they figure out a way to do it ... and they want to take down our fresh water supply.
Oh, and do the sheeple people really believe all of these gas line explosions were accidental or from natural causes?
So, if a group of the bad guys that Obama has let into this country are well organized enough, planned enough, coordinated enough (ala 9/11) ... imagine the damage they could do if in a 24 hour period they took out a few strategic substations all at once, polluted a couple of water reservoirs serving NYC and LA for instance, blew a couple of dams, blew a couple of rail lines, blew a couple of gas lines, blew a couple of main power lines.
This country would melt within 72 hours ... there would be riots. The BLM crowd would be overrunning the Wally Worlds.
Not to mention what happened when dickless shut off the power grid in Ghostbusters.
Ghostbusters was the movie that started the whole prepper movement.
