People dig into every detail of something like this.

Which is why I'm curious as to what would happen if I got pulled into something like this:

"Dude's a walking, talking success story. If he bumps into an obstacle, he patiently overcomes it."

"Doesn't even drink. Married to the same woman for 30 years. Must be something wrong with him. That ain't normal."

Total equivalency there. You got me. Shot versus being dragged.

I said he was stupid and he shouldn't be dragged.

Do you disagree with either?

That's not okay, by any means. But its also totally unfair that it's being brought to light again considering the circumstances.

agreed. the sensationalism of the story is huge and the link to this week is non-existant.

the only thing it highlights is how ridiculous both sides got once the heels dug in. should have been an inconvenient but generally smooth interaction all around given what both sides stood to lose (even without knowing his story, just the risk of arrest)

What the hell difference does that make?
I DGAS if he was a ditch digger with 35 felony convictions.
This was not his fault.

The fact people here cannot see that, and are coming to defense of the airline, is stunning!

This is irrelevant to the situation at hand. This is basically United's crisis management firm trying for a kill shot to change the subject.
I hope he cleans their clock.

Yes, without question.
100% disagree.

IMO you've lost your damn mind.

If you come back from vacation and find a squatter has moved into your home, are you """stupid""" to complain about it?

When the police say that they cannot evict him by law, and tell you instead you'll have to go live somewhere else, are you """stupid""" to complain about it?

When the squatter then calls the police to come remove you from your own frontporch as he cooks marshmellows on a campfire in what was your livingroom, are you """stupid""" to resist removal?

Mindboggling.

You are misunderstanding.

If I were him with that past I would not disobey an order to get off the plane unless I didn't care about folks finding out I'm the type to offer prescription drugs in trade for a homo blow job or whatever.

He made a different choice. I think it was dumb and now he'll face the consequences because of the twitter machine and google machine.

It was a dumb decision unless he just doesn't care.

He should not have been dragged either way.

That still doesn't change the risk he took in people finding out about his past. He just jeopardized his practice by making a stand. I'm good with that. His patients will decide the rest.

The free market is great.

Also staying on or getting off the plane was his choice.

Squatters aren't squatters if it's my choice to have squatters.

I can't avoid a scene if I have squatters I want gone.

I can avoid a scene if I'm told to get off someone else's property.

This has absolutely nothing to do with how United Airlines handled the situation.

But probably has everything to do with the passengers actions. "I'm gay. You're treating me differently because of that"

David Thanh Duc Dao, MD, is an American physician based in New Orleans, Louisiana. [1] [5] He previously worked at Hardin Memorial Hospital and owned a medical practice.

There is current speculation that David Thanh Duc Dao has a criminal record under the name 'David Anh Duy Dao.'[15]? However, this has largely been disproven and is thought to be malicious move by United Airlines' legal team in a bid to smear Dao's name.

Welcome to life in the Golden Age of Blackmail.

He does something illegal 14 years ago... go on probation...

Something happens now that's completely unrelated, and nothing he asked for, and BOOM... his sins from 14 years ago are headline news.

From here on out, no one is ever going to let anyone forget anything about you. What a wonderful world we've created for each other, here in the Land of the Free.

Mass media and social media have devolved into such shitty gossip engines. I can't stand it.
