Republicans have polled a majority in Houston and Dallas for most of the last 20 years. That's starting to change in recent years, hence the hoopla about "turning Texas blue." But, compared to most big cities, I can't think of many big cities that are more competitive for Republican majorities than Houston and Dallas.

Places like Detroit are great examples of how liberals are completely undeterred by results. The people running that city have NEVER deviated from the tracks they've been on. It's like it doesn't even occur to them that they might be part of the problem.

I should add that the typical liberal may look at Detroit as a failure but not in the way you or I do.

No. The typical liberal views the failure in Detroit in terms of how unfair it is that people ran away. This is why they need the Federal govt to mimic their Detroit ideas. Much harder to run away from similar federal policies.
