As much as I don't believe the CDC is giving us the full story, people saying that ebola must not be hard to catch because out of hundreds of contacts there are 2 confirmed cases are being absurd.
I'm not sure what to think on this one. The people living with Duncan have so far shown no symptoms, after being in the same rooms for a week while he was sick.

I just caught a couple of minutes of a local NBC newscast, and they reported that the boyfriend has not exhibited any Ebola-type symptoms yet.
That synches up with NHTIGER's information.

I'm sorry, but I'm doubtful about an article that relies on Twitter exchanges for "news."
It is very possible (as most people aren't very bright) that someone went from "quarantine" to "hospitalized for symptoms." Two very different scenarios.

Yeah. This story doesn't jive. I'm calling b.s.

Here is the opening sentence to your link from the OP:
"An email sent out to the Alcon staff by its CEO reportedly said that the ebola nurse’s boyfriend was admitted into hospital with “Ebola-like symptoms.”
Do you know how I know that the person writing that article is full of shite?
Because I read that Alcon letter and it specifically states that "The associate has not shown any signs or symptoms of the Ebola virus."

Agreed. It is weird. I do think the CDC either A) is hiding info or B) doesn't know what to tell us. That said, I'm not especially concerned with a widespread outbreak.
The outbreak isn't apocalyptic in Africa, much less here. Especially when you consider the wide disparity in sanitation, hygiene and medical competence in the US and W. Africa.
I think we'll probably continue to have isolated cases and small numbers of contact cases resulting from travelers. I'm not really worried about the lack of travel ban for outbreak purposes, but it'd be nice if we could not do this collective freak out for the next year and a half because someone is diagnosed once a month in major cities.

They have everyone from his department now working from home.

The fact that none of the 48 "direct" contacts of Thomas Duncan are exhibiting any symptoms is the best news to come out of this.
Like somebody said earlier, it seems understandable that a patient with an advanced case of Ebola would be much more likely to transmit the disease to another purpose. The fact that a healthcare worker wearing ppe ended up contracting the disease would seem to back that up.
The "window of vulnerability" closes on 10\19 (Sunday) for Duncan's contacts, so we shall see. Hopefully 21 days is enough time.

Chill bro. You don't care about me Ace?
I do, my brother, but it goes down like this:
CDC Chief - "Hey, this is tough to contract" (while patient and providers are in Dallas).
CDC Chief (in full on PPE, talking through respirator) "Hey this is tough to contract" (with patient and providers down the hall.)
See my point? I'm not wishing Ebola on anybody, brah.

Him being placed in quarantine=/= having ebola symptoms. Plus 2 employees that won't put their names on record saying an email went out. Please excuse me while I wait for a more credible source.

My biggest worry is that it will get a firm toehold in Central America/Mexico - then the oozing of new DEM voters across the borders will represent a very real threat to the border population and may threaten the rest of the nation if they keep bussing the illegals into other parts of the nation.

I just don't understand how no one else around Duncan picked it up... That is what I find surprising...

They've told us that Ebola is really hard to contract.
It is as long as you aren't regularly exchanging bodily fluids with an infected individual.
Now, who are we talking about here?
Think people

Ding ding
Anyone following this should know that regardless of the chance of him actually being infected, it's way too fast for him to show symptoms.

Fear combined with the desire to blame Obama is all this is.

That an un married couple exchanged bodily fluids? I'd be more surprised if they haven't.

The funny thing is that if he doesn't get it, those screaming about how serious this is will have no explanation whatsoever about how someone having sex with an infected person didn't get it. None.
