Naw, all they would know about me are my grades and that I was a male who had better grades than her.

If they looked into my personality then they would find out I was so nice that I tutored her for free for 2 years.

They would also find out I was an Eagle Scout and a hard worker.

Well, this time it isn't about me except for the fact that I am a male and they were looking specifically for a female.

That's what Affirmative Action is all about.

What's fricked up is Affirmative Action not me.

If you don't want Republican policies, then stop voting for Republicans.

Don't you have any sense of personal responsibility at all? Why is everything someone else's fault?

These are two opposite sentences?

If you keep voting for max Medicare and you are 25 you sure as hell won't get it.

Of course, no one will touch it so it is going to run out sometime after I am dead regardless of what anybody does.

What are the odds the younger generations will have any of these benefits when we're 60/70?
As long as they keep getting their asses handed to them in programs like the ACA, to the benefit of boomers, the odds are painfully slim.

Social security won't be around when I look to retire in 30-40 years. I fully expect the government to cut it off at some point and buy out remaining contributors through tax credits or something. Medicare probably won't be around but who the hell knows what healthcare will look like in 10 years much less 30 years.

And boomers are mostly hard-working people. My parents are late stage boomers and they've grinded their way to retirement with 4 kids, it's not their fault that our government dips into their money because they can't balance a budget. They deserve what they are owed.

Medicaid or Medicare? Neither one is going to pay for your nursing home.

Medicare does not pay for custodial care (nursing homes) unless the patient requires temporary, skilled nursing care.

Medicaid (state) pays a percentage for nursing homes if certain requirements are met, but ONLY if your income falls below a certain level.

So unless you're poor or broke, you'd better take out a long term care policy, which won't pay a whole lot anyway, and get ready to liquidate every one of your assets when you can't live at home anymore.

We're all on our own when it comes to custodial old-age care.

Meh, no one forced you to come to this planet at this time.

You made the choice of your own free will.

Now stop griping and get to work!

The US has more than doubled in population since 1950. If in the next 70 years we grow just a quarter of our population that we allow more people paying into the SS pool.

The average of life exspectancy is expected to rise in the US from around 66 in 1950 to the mid 80's in 2050.

The people like me in there 40's will be depending on millennials to pay more to SS and other taxes to keep our benefits that the boomers are getting.

One thing for sure is we will be working longer than our parents.

Ok. What am I missing?

quote:

There are many ways you can pay for nursing home care. Most people who enter nursing homes begin by paying for their care out-of-pocket. As you use your resources (like bank accounts and stocks) over a period of time, you may eventually become eligible for Medicaid.

Medicare generally doesn't cover long-term care stays (room and board) in a nursing home.
quote:

If you qualify for Medicaid, you may be able to get help to pay for nursing home care costs. Not all nursing homes accept Medicaid payment.

quote:

Sometimes you won't be eligible for Medicaid until you've spent some of your personal resources on medical care. You may be moved to another room in the Medicaid-certified section of the nursing home when your care is paid by Medicaid
quote:

Most people who are eligible for Medicaid have to reduce their assets first.

your missing the point where they have been working for 35 years straight.

what year are you on young buck?

Millennials are the first and only generation in HISTORY where it is sadly "en vogue" to disrespect your elders. What does that say about them?

Respect is growing problem and it is not just millennials, but Gen-X who don't want to pay to take care of boomers.

They don't understand "why" we take care and pay for our elders.

It is sad

In Texas, you can put your assets in a living trust, and after a certain amount of time, your assets are protected from Medicaid. I guess this is most states, too.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. Been looking into these things since my mom is 87 now---still in great shape for her age, but 87.

Bull shite. You baby boomer blamers don't know what the frick you are talking about.

It wasn't the baby boomer who created this mess. It was the so called greatest generation. The very first baby boomers born couldn't even hold office before 1970.
The very first Baby Boomer President was Bill Clinton.

The problems we have today of eminence government expansion were created by people from the previous generation.

The Policies that fricked up health care costs, education costs, etc etc were in place prior to 1986. Most were enacted before 1975. None of these were done by the baby boomers.

Furthermore the taxes that the Baby Boomers are paying is the only thing keeping this country even remotely afloat. Your world will come crashing down after we retire.

The Baby Boomers do have something they did wrong though. They reared the shittiest generations of people ever to exist in this country(The Millennials and Generation X) because we gave you to much stuff.
