It's ignorant when opponents of Christianity fall to this. It's equally ignorant when apologists pretend the discussion is limited to the Crusades.

Right. I think it's brought up now mostly bc Obama mentioned the Crusades not long ago.

that was the point silly, I also wanted to see how bad you would cherry pick the link which you did.

And in Honor of CA (I hate Dailey Mail) I will throw you a nasty bone on Christians killing and eating Muslims in CAR.
LINK

the point is neither group can claim the other is more violent, it is pretty much situational.

If you have to reach back centuries to compare Christianity to Islam, then you have already defeated yourself and proven that contemporary Christianity and Islam are not the same.

This. Unless we are working with progressive alternative facts.

Not much, just confirming you were a liar

Unless that is you think I wrote the headline, in which case you are just stupid.

Would that be the Crusades wherein the Christians were fighting against the Muslim invaders?

I agree with you that the headline is misleading, but please explain what your takeaway was from that poll, and why your conclusion paints democrats (and/or muslims) in a better light.

I love, after hearing this, what exactly they think happened during or caused the crusades.

I am in no way endorsing the poll's premise, but any objective discussion has to acknowledge the barbarity in much of the Old Testament, and the crazy "laws" it describes. I always tell newbies to the Bible to not read it front to back. If the third book you read is Leviticus, it is a hard slog to get to the epic parts of Kings, Judges, etc.

You also have to acknowledge the Crusades, the Inquisition, and even the Pope's lack of condemnation of Hitler during WWII. It is also fair to point at abortion clinic killings done in the name of God, the Branch Davidians, and the filth proclaimed by Westboro. Just because I and my church would find all these abhorrent doesn't mean it is out of bounds to bring it up as "stuff Christians do".

That being said, I also think it is more than fair to say that the overhelming majority of Christians recognize all these as evil and denounce them without reservation. I have not seen the same from the bulk of Islam.

Semites have that habit. People talk about Stalin killing people without ever mentioning how the Trotskyites were the biggest terror of the Soviet Union. Stalin's purge of the Trotskyites was a good thing. Obviously not a fan of Stalin though.

Crusades

As others have mentioned the Crusades were to get Holy Land back from the Jihad. Jihad nearly took out the whole of the West and probably would have if it hadn't been for Charles the Hammer Martel seeing the writing on the wall. People also rarely factor in that the Jihad is what really caused the dark ages since trade stopped when the Muslims started their Jihad. It also can't be forgotten that the Jihad also went as far as to siege Vienna. That isn't to say the Crusades were all good though. While we did get some of Europe back the fourth crusade might as well as have literally gave Constantinople to the Ottomans.

Overall I think it is safe to say Abrahamic religions have not been that great for white people. We have lost a lot of history under the yoke of Abrahamic religions. It is hard to say just how much history has been lost because it has been so long since it was wiped out. The Roman's had a horrible time dealing with the Jews and Jerusalem was a big problem for them (having to go so far as to destroy it) as it is for us today. Jerusalem is a leech for the health of great countries, look at the last couple decades of war as an example. Christianity has also ingrained a passivity in the culture telling us to be tolerant while being invaded.

Religion doesn't kill people, people kill people.

Islam is connected to violence because it's connected to the Arab world. They've got a long history of being invaded and ruled by various groups. Golden Horde, Crusades, Tamerlane, Ottomans ECT. Builds a little extreme nationalism (which religion has replaced since the failings of Arab nationalism in the 60s). Regions with similar histories of invasion (Balkans and Caucuses) have notable levels of crazy.

Not to say there aren't troubling aspects of a literal view of Islam that enhance the problem, but to me, it's much more built on the culture of a particular region.

You make a good point, and in line with my general thoughts. I know there are many on here will downvote it, but I still believe Islam has been coopted for political power in a similar way that the KKK did with Christianity. The foot-soldier jihadists really do believe that they are acting for Allah, but they have largely been brainwashed by "leaders" who see this as a way to achieve their goals. Look at OBL. The guy was a porn-addicted psychopath with money and charisma, not a religious adherent. I think he was the rule, not the exception.

So, some 67% of Democrats are blithering idiots. Sounds about right. How anyone can actually equate Islam to Christianity in violence is just plain absurd, and truly it can be said for comparing Islam to any worldwide religion for that matter.

What is wrong with these humans? Was it the fluoride in the water, or maybe lead paint, happy meals, HFCS, living under power lines, or maybe their mothers getting stoned when they were pregnant? I don't get it. Not everything on the planet has a moral equivalent. Some things just stand on their own as horrific. Radical Islam is just that.

It's like two boys get in a fight. Liberals think both boys are guilty, and so rather than make a stand on right and wrong, both are condemned equally to avoid having to make a definitive stand on right and wrong. It's an indicator of extreme cowardice.

8 total people have been killed during attacks on abortion clinics since Roe V Wade. EIGHT. NOT 8 Million, Not 8 Thousand, not 800, NOT EVEN 80, EIGHT.

More people have been killed by Muslim Jihadists while I've been typing this post than have been killed during abortion clinic attacks in the last 44 years.

It's like comparing cancer victims to people who die in vending machine accidents.
