Almost seven out 10 Democrats believe Islam “encourages violence… about the same as other religions,” according to a new CBS poll.
The trusting attitude towards Islam is revealed in the February 2017 poll follows 17 tumultuous years of attacks against Americans motivated or shaped by Islamic ideology throughout the United States—from the 9/11 atrocity to the Pulse nightclub attack in Florida committed by an observant, orthodox Muslim man from a Muslim family.

Historically, the body counts for both are very high. No rational argument can be made for them being comparably violent in 2017 however.

Those damn crusaders. It's been hundreds of years and Christians today still hold on to the guilt. Muslims deserve a free pass for their attacks over the last 15 years.

Christianity hasn't consistently been directly responsible for large numbers of deaths since the 18th century.

While largely true, the support for going to the middle east did have a large contingent of evangelicals who were quoted numerous times as being part of a holy war
