quote:nothing can ever come close to the body count from the Muslim conquest and occupation of India. It was a nonstop bloodbath that lasted 800 years, with body counts carefully and proudly recorded by the Islamic scribes. The Hindu population of india was decreased by at least 400 million people by the 1500s. And that's not counting those taken into slavery. It's the worst atrocity in the history of the world and is never talked about
Historically, the body counts for both are very high. No rational argument can be made for them being comparably violent in 2017 however.

Polls only matter they confirm my belief

They're equally violent. That is to say, neither is violent at all. Religion can't hurt anybody. Only human muscle tissue can do that.

European Christians killed tens of thousands of natives from the 16th through 18th centuries directly through violence and over a million through disease.

I think Dems should make attacking Christians the core of their party platform going forward. It really is the path to political success.

Exactly. This is all about attacking Christians because of the political clout they have in this country and that is because Christians have a code of moral decency that democrats despise.

2/3 of Dems believe Islam and Christianity are EQUALLY violent

While largely true, the support for going to the middle east did have a large contingent of evangelicals who were quoted numerous times as being part of a holy war

This guy. Oh wait, unless it was some arbitrary amount of time ago it doesn't count.

Might the poll be saying that Islam promotes violence and other religions promote violence? Not that they're equally violent, but simultaneously violent?

Talk about fake news.
Breitbart? Come on, dude.

Are you talking Old Testament or New Testament? Because the Old Testament is the history of the Jewish people up to the time of Christ. The New Testament is the Christian part and I don't remember seeing many Christians killing Romans or Jews in that one. Quite the opposite in fact
Are you trying to argue that Christians don't believe the Old Testament is part of the Bible and therefore not part of their religion?
If that is really what you are trying to say, then my response is...durp

As evidence by the fact that a completely non-religious person won the republican nomination.
Say what you will about Trump but his victory has deminished the connection between the Republican Party and the tyrannical right wing evangelicals. Or maybe they are hypocrites and voted for Trump (a person that stands for everything non-Christian ).

Let's be intellectually honest here. If McVeigh had watched an ISIS video on the internet then commuted his crime, this board would very fervently label him a Muslim terrorist. (See the Florida airport shooter that was mentally ill and watched a couple of videos and therefore was labeled, without a doubt, as a Muslim terrorist by 90% of the idiots that post here)
So given the fact that McVeigh had even a limited exposure to Christian doctrine, he is by Poli-broad logic, a Christian terrorist.
Now, besides all that, it's quite obvious that Islam promotes repression of minorities and Islamist use violence to control the masses.

Let's be intellectually honest. You have advanced a stupid argument. We don't argue by using what arguments some jackanape might advance on the Internet.
If McVeigh said "I'm bombing the Murrah building in the name of Jesus Christ," then he's obviously a Christian terrorist. Absent some motivation for his deeds demonstrating a religious bent, it's stupid to suggest that it's Christian terrorism. If you have some evidence to put forth, link it up. Don't advance bad arguments and call them "intellectual honesty."

Well. This is actually MORE false to believe.
I'm an atheist bUT if I woke up one day thinking, "I'd like to emulate Jesus behavior", my neighbors would love me.
If I woke up thinking the same thing about Mohammed, my neighbors would all move.

quote:Very interesting wording. Push irrelevant narrative that Islam isn't "inherently" more violent than other religions and that lone wolfs are perverting the religion. Then throw this carefully-manufactured narrative into the middle of an ambiguously worded poll question and have fun with the results.
It was "Does Islam promote violence more, less, or equal to their religions?"

Insanity. Democrats need to be better connected to reality.
