Obviously. The same people make similar claims about atheism. Stupidity all around.

The terrorism angle is a red herring.

Muslims and terrorism get the prime time coverage but that's a pimple on a frog's arse next to Islam's general violence and radical problem.

This whole "only a fraction actually want to bomb us" thing misses the point.

Any random group of 100 Muslims in the world would make a town run by 100 Pat Robertsons look like San Francisco

The Crusades!

This. Dont know how the question was worded. Many people mention the two with the qualifier of the history of the religions as a whole. which they ARE tied. Had CNN been around for the Crusades or Salem Witch Trials there'd have been some outrage.

But these were 400-600 years ago. Hell a bankruptcy falls off your record after 10 years. I think a century is enough time for a genocide. Muslims probably have not gone a century without genocide, EVER. Last 100 years they've probably not gone a decade.

A fricking scourge. And lunacy to think we can change them or make little Americans out of them

A large portion of that is because we don't give religion control of our governments. Pat Robertson appears relatively tame because he has no real power or authority to govern as he sees fit. Dude's a loon and your lord knows how he or similar minded people would behave unchecked.

A town with majority Pat Robertsons would have bad policy and liberals would act like it was borderline Hitler.

THat same town taken over by majority Muslims would have the town liberals begging for the return of the Pats

I find it astounding how often people bring up the Crusades whenever this topic is discussed. Are colleges no longer teaching Western Civilization or something?

Read up on the 400 years that preceeded the Crusades, the Muslims were more than asking for that shite.

Liberals and their feelings don't matter to me in this discussion. They're ignorant on this topic. That's well established. At some point, the degree of stupidity is irrelevant.

Try the last century

But not based on religious grounds.

It has been since Bloody Mary in the 16th century that Christians have been widely executed for their religious beliefs.

Well, and of course.

They've been pretty consistent.

Barbary Pirates

"As late as 1798, an islet near Sardinia was attacked by the Tunisians, and more than 900 inhabitants were taken away as slaves.[9] Throughout history, geography was on the pirates' side on the Northern coast of Africa. The coast was ideal for their wants and needs. With natural harbours often backed by lagoons, it provided a haven for guerrilla warfare, such as attacks on shipping vessels venturing through their territory. On the coast, mountainous areas provided ample reconnaissance for the corsairs as well. Ships were spotted from afar; the pirates had time to prepare their attacks and surprise the ships."

-wiki

"Various letters and testimonies by captured sailors describe their captivity as a form of slavery, even though Barbary Coast imprisonment was different from that practiced by the U.S. and European powers of the time.[16] Barbary Coast prisoners were able to obtain wealth and property, along with achieving status beyond that of a slave. One such example was James Leander Cathcart, who rose to the highest position a Christian slave could achieve in Algeria, becoming an adviser to the bey (governor).[17] Even so, most captives were pressed into hard labor in the service of the Barbary pirates, and struggled under extremely poor conditions that exposed them to vermin and disease. As word of their treatment reached the U.S., through freed captives' narratives and letters, Americans pushed for direct government action to stop the piracy against U.S. ships."

Try the last century

Mao, Stalin, Hitler killed more people in the last century than any religion ever dreamed of. All three share two things in common

1. Socialism (in one form or another)
2. Atheism

In terms of innocent victims, yes. In terms of body count, meh.

The actual death tolls are estimated to be between 800-2000. The main purpose of the Inquisition was to confiscate wealth of Jews and Muslims.

I'm not particularly concerned about "body counts" and I think it's weird that anyone else falls back on that.

I'm more concerned about the suppression of our society.

The Inquisition ended 400 years ago. What do you mean "our society "? Are you a 450 year old living in Spain?

Wrong.

The USSR was officially atheist and even had a League of Militant Atheism that denied even the historicity of Jesus.
