Has there been a more overachieving team in NBA history than the Hawks?

Their three best players are borderline all-stars. Their three best players are Millsap, Horford and Teague and they're going to win 60+ games. Think about that. Buldenholzer should win two COY awards for his work this year. Go figure a Pop disciple would achieve this.

2004 Pistons? Much more talented.

2001 76ers? Had the MVP along with the DPOY.

1999 Knicks with Sprewell, Houston and Camby?

None of those teams won 60+ games (or the equivalent for a 50-game season). I can't think of anything that comes close.

Yes, and I've tried to make this point before.

A great regular season team no doubt. I'll be impressed if they make the ECF.

And they made the finals. Still have to see how Atlanta does in the playoffs

2009 Cavs won 66 games with Mo Williams as the team's second best player.

I meant I've already tried to make the point that they are playing well above their talent level.

But they had a superstar, this team doesn't have that at all.

I think their talent level is severely underrated but they are probably overachieving by like 5-8 games

Same here.

Horford, Millsaps, and Teague are some of the best players at their position in the NBA. DeMarre Carroll is an extremely underrated player and is the glue guy for the Hawks. Damn good defender and efficient scorer. Korver is 1 of the best shooters in the NBA and is having arguably the best shooting season ever.

And they have a very good bench.

They are a very good team. They've overachieved a little bit, but it's not like they don't have All Star caliber players on their team because they do.

The 2011 Mavericks had no business winning a title. Kidd was 37. Caron butler was out. Chandler, Terry, and Marion are decent role players, but nothing special. JJ Barea was a key contributor. The Hawks roster minus Dirk for the Mavs is miles better.

well Dirk didn't sit out the playoffs, so that's not particularly relevant.

Chandler was definitely more than a decent role player; he was their second best player.

The Hawks are a deep team that's fairly similar personnel-wise to the Spurs. They haven't played like a legit contender over the course of the season, though, and have been below average since the ASW. I doubt they'll be much of an obstacle to the Cavs.
