Penn's also been typecast in the last 15-20 years.
Watch him in Carlito's way...can barely recognize him.

Actresses: Meryl Streep, Katherine Heigl, Leslie Mann, Gwyneth Paltrow, Megan Fox, Cameron Diaz, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Tara Reid, Katie Holmes, Amanda Syefried

Actors: Ashton Kutcher, Ryan Gosling, Shia Labeouf, Will Smith, Keanu Reeves, Rob Schneider, Tyler Perry, Jason Statham, Matt Dillon, Jamie Kennedy, Hugh Grant, Dane Cook

So basically, even though there are many great actors in actresses in Hollywood, all these people listed above are terrible terrible actors and am always confused as to why they keep getting work.

Because not everyone cares to see a perfect movie all the time.. And they like the personalities of some of the actors. There's a likability factor going on with most of the actors you mentioned. Plus some of those have excelled in certain roles..

I don't know of a certain actor off the top of my head I avoid. I do know I don't care for Woody Allens movies because the styling is not something I enjoy.. I, too, am not a horror fan, but regardless if a movie is great I'll be open to any genre.

Sean Penn was the first person that came to mind.

Also, Hanoi Jane, Susan Sarandon, Michael Moore (stars in his own fictional movies), Tim Robbins (except for Shawshank), Jamie Foxx (most racist person in Hollywood), and most recently David Oyelowo for saying he was not nominated for an Oscar because voters are racist.

If an actor thinks that simply because he or she is a movie star I should listen to their opinion about politics, environmental, religious or moral issues, I reserve the right to not buy tickets to their movies.

Unless the role concerns those things, that's not the same as going to a concert and having the performer preach to you between songs, like Ted Nugent or Jackson Browne. I can understand being turned off by the latter, but jeez, rejecting art just because you don't like what the artist does outside of that art is unfortunate. (Child molesting pet abusers would be an exception though. Michael Vick for example can FOAD.)

Meryl Streep. I think she's the most overrated actress of all-time and it drives me crazy how she seems to get an Oscar nomination just for breathing. Also for the "GOAT" actress, her filmography is mediocre. Maybe her constant chewing of the scenery makes it difficult to have a truly great movie with her as the central character. I don't think it's a coincidence that the few great films she's been involved in (Kramer vs. Kramer, Deer Hunter, Adaptation, Manhattan) was with her taking a back seat in a supporting role.

Cosign on all of this. I don't particularly dislike her, I just feel like she's one of the most overrated actors/actresses ever.

My wife and I had a similar conversation a few years ago. She was talking about how she loves Meryl Streep and how she's the greatest, and my response was "really? Name me three of her movies." She couldn't.

Will Ferrell has become Adam Sandler to me -- a few great, funny movies at first and then took a nosedive.

I don't actively avoid his movies, but I do pretty much automatically figure them to be unwatchable.

My personal belief is that actors are baited by the media 90 percent of the time to speak on sensitive topics.
I can't imagine almost anyone responding with "I'm sorry that's personal" when asked about a political topic, including myself......
I also don't think that most actors care what someone else thinks about their views, they just have more opportunities than most.

That being said, my answer is Mel Gibson......
