re: Game of Thrones S6:E2 "Home" BOOK READERS - skirpnasty
Honestly, if this doesn't do something new and different, it's just an average epic fantasy series. It gets so much love because it's a lot of people's first plunge into the genre, but it honestly isn't even my favorite work of the last decade or two. ...

To play devils advocate... This is a quote directly from GRRM.
"The war that Tolkien wrote about was a war for the fate of civilization and the future of humanity, and that’s become the template. I’m not sure that it’s a good template, though.” – (GRRM, Rolling Stone)
This ...
warging bit. It didn't happen. You think Beric Dondarrion was trapped in a bird or something before coming back?
It's significant with Jon because he won't "lose" part of himself like Betic did when coming back. If anything he will take on some of Ghost's qualities, as we are tol...
Starks always had a strong connection to their direwolves, and Ghost could sense Jon coming back. No mention of warging, so it's pretty safe to assume Jon wasn't in ghost. That would have been a pretty big detail for D&D to leave out.
Really? This isn't a big deal at all for them...

re: Game of Thrones S6:E2 "Home" BOOK READERS - skirpnasty
I love Jon but the fact that his character, and his assumed arc going forward, mirrors Aragorn so much makes me feel like this is a LOTR reskin. Like really. Aragorn's (Jon's) parents (R+L) die and he is raised by his ancestor (Ned) the lord of Rivendale (Winterfell). They hide his true herita...
so was melisandre successful or did he wait for everyone to leave the room so he could warg back into his body
She brought him back, but he was asleep in ghost so didn't actually warg back until ghost woke up. They just added the last part for book readers as a tip of the cap th...

I don't understand pulling Sexton, and I don't understand putting Billingsly against a right handed batter in that situation. We are lucky that ball just hit the wall, everyone watching knew he was about to throw a breaking ball and the guy, who otherwise isn't a great hitter, shite all over it. ...
