No. General thought from some reliable tweets posted yesterday. Pretty legit.

im not a huge fan of Coates. But everyone was saying this about Kelvin Benjamin last year.

And didn't Benjamin have a good amount of drops to go along with his great plays?

Also: 6'5" 240 vs. 6'2" 200

You can add stronger to that list as well.

Boo!

NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock grades Auburn WR Sammie Coates as a second-rounder.

The analyst said Coates is one of the draft's top deep-threat receivers. Coates (6-foot-2, 213-pounds) has reportedly run a 4.25 forty. Coates has "[Terrell Owens'] body, [Odell Beckham Jr.'s] burst and [Darrius Heyward-Bey's] hands," NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah wrote recently. Colleague Lance Zierlein wrote that Coates has "some of the worst hands" he's seen on tape. The Auburn prospect has the physical tools that NFL teams will fall in love with, which could lead to him being over-drafted in April.

Any time someone compares a prospect's hands to Heyward-Bey's hands, I don't want that player on the Saints.

Nothing would surprise me with Payton. They'll draft someone no one ever thought possible and will be a bust.

Benjamin had 12 drops, a fumble, and three picks thrown when looking his way. He has a 53% catch percentage that was raised by his playoff games.

A lot of that is Newton (amazingly) overthrowing him though, but his numbers aren't great.

Good deep threat worth one of the 3rd round picks. I don't think he's the top target, but a realistic one based on the needs they will address earlier in the draft.

You mean like a Jahri Evans, Marques Colston or Jimmy Graham? Basically nobody's before the Saints drafted them that ended up bust, right?

I've probably seen 5 or so. I'm not saying he can't develop or doesn't have the character to dedicate himself. I'm saying at this current stage he needs a lot of work. The 2 best traits of an NFL WR are hands and route running. Not speed. Not power. Not size. While those are nice pluses to have they're not the most important. He is sub par in both currently.

Zach Strief & Tracy Porter say hi too. Maybe I should list some UDFA's too but that wouldn't exactly fit the criteria here.

Sean and Loomis are poker players. I seriously doubt they have exposed their hand.

Not really. Payton somewhat tipped his hand last year at the Combine. In this interview he talks about interviewing a receiver he can envision in the Saints offense. Anyone who did their homework could have figured it out that he was talking about either Odell Beckham or Brandin Cooks.

Except is it on record that Cooks had no contact with the Saints organization until he was picked.

I want to say that the talking heads were saying he has cases of the drops in college.
