A few friends do barefoot skiing, I think the dad and son are world champs, and they routinely do 70+ mph.

Yeah they are crazy. You have to go like 55+ from what I remember to barefoot. At those higher speeds they may wear booties but I do remember them saying they did not really enjoy skiing that fast bc the fall hurts a lot.

They have a very nice boat.

Edited to correct barefoot ski min speed

Falling at 30 hurts really bad.

I imagine wiping out at 135 would be about like falling out of an airplane onto concrete.

If been thrown off a sea-doo that was running close to 60. It about killed me. Not really but it hurt like hell.

I'll be honest, I have never taken them up on their offer to go ski.

Those guys are nuts.

If that guy puts you in the trees you are dead. No limping away from that one.

It may be, but they're definitely hauling arse. That was a long rooster tail.

135 dragging a pair of skiers seems a little fishy, but that was a pretty serious looking motor in that little bitty boat.

You don't need to go anywhere near 55 to barefoot. 35 is plenty fast enough. Above 50 and you need foot protection or you risk harm to your feet from friction burns and debris.

Every time I ever tried it the result was me being drug through the water for a few hundred yards trying not to drown and eventually flopping over on my face and letting go.

It doesn't work behind a 18 foot aluminum boat with a 90 :/

I have jumped out of jetboats doing around 60 and kneeboarded high 50s...and frick this. I wouldn't want to ski at 60 much less 135.
