What's the board's thoughts on fig newtons? I used to eat these all the time as a kid, and I added these to my daily routine about a month ago. I'm convinced they're the world's perfect snack.

They're good for you. They're more filling than you'd think. They taste good enough but they're also decidedly average in the best way so they keep you from just bombing through an entire box like you can with chips or ice cream. They're basically self regulating.

Thoughts? They've also added some new flavors that are pretty legit.

Don't really care for the taste much. However, I usually need something quick in my stomach when I wake up before heading out on my morning runs, and Fig Newtons are one of my go-tos.

Basically the same nutritional effect as a Powerbar or Cliff Bar, but much less expensive.

Info fact:

They were not named after the basic unit used to measure force, as so many modern physics majors assume.

1 Newton is the force needed to accelerate 1 kilogram of mass at the rate of 1 meter per second squared.

1 Fig Newton is an approximately 2 inch baked, flattened tubular extruded pastry (cake) enclosing a fig compote filling.

Those only have 1g of protein? Dang!

edit: I love Fig Newtons

edit 2:The normal Power Bar has 8 grams of protein so they are not the same at all from that standpoint.

I hate fig newtons. My brother loved the strawberry ones as a kid and we always had a box in the house. I'd eat one every now and then, either because I was hungry and there was nothing else good or I was hoping that I would somehow like them better. I haven't had one or seen one since I was probably 14.

I like them, I've had a homemade version of it in the form of an Italian cookie, it was like natures broom.

I like them. Buy on occasion. Like the regular flavor, the older packaging,(seemed larger) and old price.

I generally stay away from the newtons and nutter butters. A friend took a job with nabisco right out of college. His advice is to stay away from these two during the hot months.

It seems that he would get tons of returns on these items due to the worm larvae hatching with the warm weather.

I guess eat them the same months you would normally eat oysters.

I always wanted to like fig newtons, but they're pretty tasteless to me and need a crunchy element. I don't care for them.
