I got a copy of the KdV newspaper. Headlines:
"Comatose Presents Fifty Shades of Gay"
"Underwear Bulldozes for Change"
"Krewe of Spermes Launches Dickstarter Campaign"
"Krewe of Crude Changes Positions"
"Mama Roux Unleashes Genetically Modified Orgasms"
"Krewe of LEWD turns Freakshow When Members visit Set of American Whore Story"
Just a few.

If that kids wants to have a chance and daddy liking this city, they need to just change their hotel booking to the Hampton Inn on St. Charles uptown right now.

Sounds like he would mostly likely enjoy a Luck Dog

Sounds like a Mc Donald's kind of guy. So you don't need much effort.

My green wave pride (I have both purple, gold, olive, and sky in my veins) compels me to give you some uptown recs for a father/son visiting campus.
--Willie Maes Grocery n Deli, new uptown location of Willie Maes fried chicken empire. Even ppl from Arkansas like fried chicken.
--Camellia Grill. Dad will find nothing not to like on the menu, plus it's a NOLA institution beloved by generations of undergrads.
--TruBurger, again dad will not be freaked out by the menu. Not a chain, hand dipped corn dogs, shoestring fries.
--satsuma on Maple. Breakfast, sandwiches, enough hippie/healthy vibe so the kid doesn't think NOLA is solely populated by burger eaters. Kiddo can eyeball all the Maple St joints he will be free to visit once free of daddy.

Ok so let's send him to traditional American or Cajun/Creole type places.
Mr. John's
Galatoire's
Mr. B's
Johnny's Poboys
and I hate to say it but his type would probably really like Margaritaville or that Toby Keith restaurant.

Yea, I'm not exactly sure this guy is cut out for galatoires

yea, it might be too formal. Mr. John's is safe though and he could wear jeans and a polo. Same for Mr. B's.

Even though I don't really like him, I'm still trying to help the guy. He is old and pretty set in his way. He has never been to NOLA.
Good for you.
So the guy likes what he likes and wants what he wants? Why do some of you care so much?
This is not even about food snobbery. It's about a little basic human decency.
I know, I know. Too heavy, but c'mon guys, read the stuff you are saying about someone.

one of my very good friends from Cheneyville is like this.
I brought him to Houston a couple years ago. We went to Hearsay for a beer and a burger with a group of friends the night we got into town. He got mad he had to order a margarita then got a burger, which he said he really enjoyed, as we all did.
The next day were at the pool and a girl asks us how Hearsay was and he just yells "shitty!" We inquired why he changed his mind and he said "I couldn't read the damn cursive on the menu."

Cafe' Maspero is casual, cheap (cash only), and has American style non-seafood items on the menu.

I'm with you except for the one obvious racist stipulation he put in his request. I get how that can come from a certain sort of ignorant/sheltered perspective, though, as obviously Salmon does as well.

I'd add High Hat. It has a number of menu items which might appeal to him.

The Cheneyville thread reminds me that Houstons might be just the ticket for daddy n son.
