I'm glad, too!

Bonine's pre-voting speech won them over. That's massive for the future because it already shows the LHSAA may actually have a true leader to fix this mess.

My proposal. No classifications, one championship.

Anyone who feels that this is unfair to them places an undue emphasis on an extracurricular activity and should take prescription medication to help them with the mental disorder they clearly have.

A Westbanker calling someone trash is pot/kettle. And no, I couldn't make the bowling team in HS bc we didn't have one and I was busy lettering in football and wrestling. I get why the Catholic schools are pissed about this - they largely play in the 4a's and 5a's against teams that can go up against their size. The reason why I have such a hatred of Curtis is because they have the same sized teams as the 5a's and undeniably 10000% better equipment and facilities than the teams that they're put into districts with such as Springfield. Curtis has 115 of the 800 kids that go to the school on the football team. The other schools that they're put up in district play with are lucky to dress 40. If you can't see the competitive advantage that they have over small public schools then you're completely blind.

Both Private and Public schools play by the same set of rules if not then split them up not only in football but all sports.

Easy.

I guess I'm ok with it for now, not that my opinion matters a whit. Sorry we're stuck for another two years, though, but it's better than a total split. Though, from a select perspective, I'd likely find it acceptable. In my estimation, it should go back to 2012, or a total split.

Of course the 6A thing drives me bonkers, La. should only need four classes.

You've obviously never actually seen any of these schools. Anyone who says Curtis has better facilities than their district foes is on something. You've lost all credibility.

Chalmette, no one is going to be happy. Honestly, I think the problem is solved with the football split. Tell me who is getting screwed in football with the current format? Who is getting screwed in any sport with the current format?

Although, losers are never happy. Riverside and U-High (basketball) are about to become the new black sheep now that we know football will stay split.

Frankly, I think it's better split than it was right before the split. Watching Curtis abuse some 2A team in the semis was just nonsense.
The Select games were largely compelling - some great quarter match ups. Good football.
If they re-merge sensibly, that would be best. But it won't be easy to do.

West Monroe saved the state a lot of headache by upsetting Byrd. If Byrd goes on to win state as a magnet, there would have been an outcry for all magnets to be separated as well, which I thought was already the case. They had the best defense I've seen in 4-5 years. Unbelievably fast and disciplined.

They do not play by the same set of rules. Private schools do not have to accept students if they do not want to. Therefore, they can control their enrollment numbers and they can control their classification. The private schools do not have to give their students the EOC tests like public schools. This is not going away I assure you. Mr. Bonine will not be able to do anything about the two reasons I listed.

So, tuition supported private schools are intentionally turning down qualified students in order to play ball and dominate lower athletic classes? All of them?

Have you had any experience with an actual private school? Because you are describing the opposite of the reality of the ones I am familiar with.
The split casts all privates in the same light. All are not football factories- by a long shot.

Definitely split private and public scools. Different rules. Still don't she the big deal of playing where your enrollment level puts you. Playing up is absurd.

I am no expert - but I see the money that goes into some of the private school programs in northern LA.

It is an advantage for these private schools - no doubt about it. If a private school is committed to athletics, they are 20 yards ahead of a public school that has the same goal in this 100 yard dash.

LHSAA will have to crack down on practice times, voluntary workouts and team meetings etc. to get a level playing field.

I never said all of them are doing it. Yes they do take lower academic students if they are good athletes. I have had experience with private schools. The ones I have had experience with do recruit and it is not a level playing field.

This is all about recruiting and the rules of the LHSAA. Public schools are bound by the rules and district lines and the private schools are not. You wan to fix all of this, you make the private schools play by the same rules. If they are unwilling to go to whatever lengths necessary to prove they are doing it honestly then they are kicked out. Whatever rules apply to public schools apply equally to the privates.
