Kick Evangel and Curtis out, put everyone back together, 4 classifications. We all know this is about 2 schools

Put all of the privates in 5A regardless of enrollment. Tell pissy whiny Curtis that they can't be in a district with the small country 2A schools that dress 30 players to their 100+ that they recruit from all over.

Public and private schools recruit in all kinds of ways. It's silly to think otherwise.

The problem is, outside of a few public schools like WM for football, or Barbe for baseball, the level of recruiting in the public schools is not even in the same stratosphere as the privates. That's the issue. With that said, I don't see the need for a split beyond football. Plus, the private schools aren't leaving the LHSAA. You think a school like Notre Dame wants a 10 game schedule that looks like this?

Parkview Baptist
@ St. Ed's
Teurlings
Vermilion Catholic
@ University
@ Catholic NI
Opelousas Catholic
@ Vanderbilt
St. Louis
@ Sacred Heart

No.

Public schools will be ok if private schools leave. I think that private schools would have a much more difficult time of they left. Public schools would definitely be able to find a sponsor for lhsaa if privates leave.

one other way they can solve some of this public-private animosity... give the Executive Committee the power to unilaterally decide what classes and districts will be and have different districts for different sports. if they think whoever in class 5A is better for all in terms of fair competition, they should have the power to do that, and drop some of the weaker teams in 5A down a class, for example

What would I do? Tell those schools that voted for a split to kiss my arse, quit being a bunch of pathetic losers, and put everything back to the way it was.

it fails in baseball... Hahnville principal was instrumental

Principal Booker of Many pulls the boys basketball, girls basketball, and softball proposed split

the 5/2 proposal which would have became 4/3 got tabled, so we go into the next two years with no changes, and any won't go into effect until the next reclassification

Mr. Bonine wanted his chance to do things his way, and now he has a mandate

on the flip side, what can he do to be seen as a success? some principals want the split, some want to be back together, and any changes will hurt one side or another

Friday, I believe the public school principals (a far bigger voting block than privates) will vote to separate baseball, softball and basketball just like football. They refused to delay the vote for the new LHSAA head to take power in March and try to negotiate a better solution because they do not want a better solution. These are "fairness" and "participation ribbon" types who don't care how stupid they are about to make the state's high school sports look.

Your powers of prognostication were somewhat lacking.

I think if they had the 'nads to do it years ago, ditching Curtis would have sufficed by itself. Evangel was dominant but for a shorter period of time and I don't think they alone would have prompted the split.

The amount of twists and turns the LHSAA went through over the years proposing general overall rules to deal with one team (or two if you include Evangel) that had a decades long lock on a class (or a series of classes) was kind of ridiculous. Play up, stay down, play up only to a certain extent, split all the schools.

They've been doing surgery with butcher knife, impacting programs that weren't part of the problem when what they really needed was a scalpel.
