They try sometimes. Dead folks on mountains tend to die in some inconvenient arse places

I've been watching documentaries and reading shite on Everest the last few nights. I want to attempt to, but finally saw that it's basically over 50k to do it. There's also the potential chance of death, or frostbite.

Same reason you aren't going to get them.

Attempts to get the deceased climbers down is highly dangerous to those who might try it.

Hey, that guy died there because of the actual location. Why don't you go get him?

If they could just "go get em" easily, people wouldn't be trying to climb it.

I posted a thread on here yesterday about possibly trying it. Hmmm, this seems like prophetic timing.

Its actually more than that. You cant carry them down and a helo wont work at the altitude where they died.
Almost all died on the two most used routes so you have to go right past them.

The difficulty of recovering those bodies is well documented. It's above helicopter ceilings (and paradropping is unsafe and impractical) so someone would have to climb up to get them. And the journey is so exhausting that all those bodies ended up there. You literally have to pass several along many of the common paths to summit Everest.

fricking white people...SMDH.

They chose to go up there. They knew this risks, or should have.

If someone wants to go get them, great, but no one should be expected to. And if someone wants to go get them and dies up there, well there you go.

Rob Hall was an expedition leader during the Everest disaster in 1996. He died trying to assist his living clients descend. They went back and recovered his body but it took several experienced mountaineers who literally risked their lives to get it done.

Might be sick, but I love seeing the occasional reminder that mother nature is still the dominant force.

I'm amazed at how perfectly the bodies are kept for all that time.
