I like how the Hardline guys commented how, in bro country songs, all the clichés and stereotypes revolve around having a good time. When it's time to get introspective and solemn or sing about loss, that's when you sing about troops.

They broke "My kind of night" down perfectly.

"You think her type of night is floating down a dirty river, eating a plate full of catfish and then getting mounted under the moonlight? Yeah, I don't know, I'm feeling kind of fat, we just ate like 10 fish"

I personally think that song is pretty serial killer/rapey. I mean, all of the other boys want to wind her up and take her downtown, but he decides to take her way out to a rural area (as emphasized by the corn rows row row row your boat). He then takes her out fishing for catfish, then guts and cleans some catfish in front of her, cooks it, eats it, then proceeds to lay her down and love her right. It's disturbing behavior to say the least.

Even the timeline makes no sense. He met her at a bar, so odds are it's about 10:00pm at the earliest when they meet, so 11:00 when they leave. They went to a remote area, so no earlier than 11:30 (although way out hints that it is likely farther) for them to get there. There's no way they caught enough catfish for a catfish dinner that sounds like a winner winner in less than an hour of fishing, plus an extra 30 minutes of time minimum between the dock and their spot on the water (row row row your boat) seeing as they were fishing in a river rather than a private stocked pond. Also, no mention of dynamite usage was made, so we can assume standard fishing equipment and bait. That means it's no earlier than 1:00am when they are pulling back up at the doc.

Then it takes a minimum of an hour to clean and cook this catfish dinner (an extra half-hour if they're doing it camp fire style), then a half hour to eat it. It's now it's no earlier than 3:00am and she's reaching over, faded t-shirt fallin' off her shoulder (wait, wrong song). Keep in mind, it could be much much later. It's insane!!!

Luke Bryant is not only a musical predator, assaulting our ears with relentless malice. He is clearly a sexual predator as well, and possibly has been abducting women and murdering them in a van down by the river for quite some time, now.

Kenny Chesney is Johnny fricking Cash next to some of these dooshbags.

Blasphemy. Chesney is a Jimmy Buffet wannabe that originated the bro country genre. He's kind of the bro country douchebags, and his music sucks.

the hate...it is strong in you...Kenny puts on a good show and does what the frick he wants...which is not bro country...he basically as you said has followed in Buffett's footsteps...although you do know that Buffett at one time was "country" as well...and worked at a music review in Nashville....

I love when Danny gets fired up. It's a great segment.

Aldean, FGL, Bryan, and Brantley can all DIAF. It's no wonder that Nickelback's engineersand producers work for FGL.

I wasn't defending bro country...much of it...hell most of it sucks at epic levels...its just that most here don't realize that some of what they consider "bro" country is not at all bro country...its just country that isn't Hank, Willie, Waylon, Johnny, etc.

I love DBT and Isbell etc. but the hate here for anything not classic or underground is stupid...

They have taken over the Houston rodeo too, which used to pull some pretty decent performers. I'll probably see Alan Jackson but that will be it.

He ushered in bro country. Vapid music with cheesy lyrics while dressed like a douche, that is bro country and that is Kenny Chesney. He's a product of slick marketing.

what? the dude wears jeans and a t-shirt all the time..now FGL and Bryan...they dress gay as frick...but if jeans and a t-shirt and a cowboy hat is douche...that is news to me...

I'm not trying to be argumentative but it just seems you have decided that anybody you don't like is bro country...and that was my whole point....there are some blinders on a lot of folks in this thread...and a very blanket statement is being used to describe a lot of artists...
