the shows author is described as a "conservative" but he writes in every leftwing hot topic of the day from labor unions to suffrage..

Didn't watch last nights downton, but just wanted to throw this in.
I think if you like downton you will also like "the reign" on nextflix. Different country and time, but great period drama! I'm loving it.

I watched last night. I got distracted because it was slow and boring to me. I just don't know that they can top the first 3 seasons. Last season was disappointing and this one has started out slowly, as well.
The Lady Edith storyline is dull. Anything about Thomas is old. I hope it picks up.

at "the wireless" . "it's a fad"
the way carson and robert struggle to deal with the changes in the world is what keeps this show interesting to me.
and the dowager is always good for a laugh.
it's kinda weird how just when you think thomas is about to get canned , they find a way to make him a hero.

but yea, it's weird how little sense this show makes.
I think he meant the actual story.
You must be Thomas.

Edith has to be the dullest character on the show. But some of these storylines are being repeated way too much. Thomas blackmails somebody. Bates might get in trouble for murder. Been there, done that.

Lady Mary is about to heat stuff up. Scandalous!
But let's cut back to Daisy and see if she can be taught to add and subtract.

I'm sad because each week, I find myself bored. The show is not keeping me involved as it used to.

Can someone please tell me what Blake meant about how Mary could ease the news in? I am as clueless as she was.
I will say one thing, having spent some time in England, in response to those talking about leftwing movements being thrown in. I was shocked by how class-ed the society over there still is, especially in the country. Having grown up in middle class America, away from even the high society of places like New York, it is hard to imagine such an ingrained stratification of society, so yeah, I think the slow awakening to other possibilities is likely very much what was going on at that time.

Edith has to be the dullest character on the show.

My mind drifted elsewhere, I guess, when that happened or else I didn't have a clue either. I've gotten to where I don't retain much of the show because I feel like the poster above. Been there, done that for a lot of the storyline right now.
Edith needs to acknowledge the child and raise her or move on. That part is so damn boring. And, I don't care where Daisy learns anything. All that is, is filler to bring on the hated teacher. That storyline is also boring and if Bates or his wife are involved in another murder, I may have to give it up. That would be overkill, pun intended. Mary and the suitors are boring, too. I'm so disappointed. If it weren't for the Dowager and Mrs Crawley, I'm not sure I'd watch. They're the best part of the show right now.
Used to be Sunday night couldn't get here soon enough for me to watch, but now, it's becoming a chore to get through the show.
Has anyone watched the new series that comes on after DA? I'm taping it. I watched the first episode. Not much to it, so far.

I found the show most interesting leading up to WWI and during the war. They should find a way to skip ahead to WWII. That or bankrupt the family during the great depression.

I haven't watched the second episode. I had high hopes. I was disappointed.

No idea. Read a good recap on Washington Post, and the author also had no idea. None of the comments seemed to have it either.
And he was also unsure what the hell Thomas was doing with the syringe. I theorized he is trying to treat some kind of VD. Others say trying to cure his gayness or diabetes (the new insulin treatment was mentioned in an episode; but why be secret about that?). But none of that squares with the advert he rang about.
Bates used to be my favorite, but I'm getting sick of his damned dragged out murder plots.
Who would have thought that old lady Crowley would become one of the more interesting characters?

She's always been GOAT in my eyes.

she's been my favorite character for a while.
just watched this episode last night. Looks like Tony and his valet have a lot in common. Both refuse to accept no for an answer.
and that teacher is just a trouble making bitch. i get that she disagrees with robert but, EVERY time she is in his house she provokes him. I'm not a rich "Lord" but i'd throw that bitch out and make sure she never came back into my house.
the bates/green/anna story needs to end.

In case you missed Episode 4 last Sunday: LINK
Fast Forward to 10:51. I'm a DA fanatic, and it's scenes like these that draw me in even more. The scene is between Mrs. Crawley and Lord Merton. In case you didn't now, Lord Merton has a crush on Mrs. Crawley, but he's a little on the shy side. Such tenderness, courage and decency I haven't witnessed in a long time. Damn I like this show.

I initially thought some sort of drugs, but then I thought it may be something to attempt to cure his gayness.
