But by talking up Venice and naming certain areas, all people think is "Venice = easy limits of ducks." So more people start hunting causing pressure on the ducks and pretty soon someone is going to find your magic spot and you're going to come to the OB and start a thread entitled "some bastard was in my spot this morning." Catch my drift?

I understand to an extent what you are saying. Venice is starting to get overcrowded. Especially early in 1st and 2nd split. Last year I had 8 spots picked out on the delta and got there over an hour before shooting time and the 8 spots were already taken. Counted over 35 boats in main pass running around. Never had that problem 10-15 years ago.

No I'm far from mad. I've been reading this thread and several places have been mentioned, and I don't understand the need to do so. There are much better places to hunt in Venice than BC, people who hunt there a lot know this is true. I'm sure the only reason youre hunting Venice is because you read about how good it has been.

the reason I'm hunting venice is because I'm hunting with friends with whom I started hunting venice back in 1996. Not bc of what I read. Look, I've had some scotch tonight, I've done some manly things today: fought the fog, rain, mud, and killed some ducks. Im not in the mood for dealing with douches like you tonight. You need to get out of my thread and go back to the rant or wherever you came from.

Nobody is talking up venice. Just honest reports. If you have the resources to come down, great. If you can find my spot and beat me to it, great and we'll go elsewhere. Other places I keep tight to the vest. Venice is a big place and hard to get to for the average hunter. Is it crowded opening weekend and second split opening, sure. That is every public place these days.

Yea you sound like a real man. Drinking scotch, killing ducks, and playing in the fog and the mud. Man I feel like a little pussy right now. If you've really been hunting Venice since 1996 then why the hell would you start a thread asking about Venice reports? You should have 100 spots to hunt if you've been hunting there almost 20 years. And I don't really think you're in a position to call people douches, because you're being one right now. Maybe that's the scotch talking tho.

I understand what you're saying, but I've seen situations like this happen too many times. People are killing ducks on public land, start bragging about it, and next thing you know the place is overrun with people. It's much easier to keep your mouth quiet, which is hard for some people. If you want to give a report to someone, call them up and tell them, don't put it on the Internet for everyone to see.

You should feel like a pussy. Coming in here whining about me giving spots up when I did no such thing.

In case you didn't know it, birds can move. Yes they can! And the reports change. If you'd spent any time on the OB, you'd understand why these threads are posted.

I'm sober now and you're still a douche.

I'm not whining about anything. I'm simply stating a fact that the more people talk about Venice and how it is so great and easy to kill ducks, the more people will hunt there. And with more people comes more pressure and the birds will leave. And it will turn into a Salvador or Biloxi marsh type of place. And so what kind of report were you lookin for? "The birds are in PAL, theyre in bc, and hell, they're even in the delta."

I think it's pretty well documented that posting spots online creates more pressure in those areas. No where in Louisiana has gotten as much good press as Venice this year and the long time Venice hunters will vouch for there being more hunters down there than normal.

That being said, Venice is big enough, and dangerous enough, and remote enough that a lot of people won't make the trip. It's yet to be seen if the publicity will make the duck hunting significantly harder. It won't make it easier tho.

Everyone has a right to post whatever the hell they want to on the internet tho, so good reports of any area will get out one way or another.

But this:

I was really just messing around. I hope my sarcasm was detected.

Anyway, it's foggy as hell and as usual, dumbasses in mud boats without radars are running about. Think we will cook breakfast and wait it out a bit.

Yea when I get a special weather statement alert on my phone for Venice, that's a good indicator I won't be hunting until after sunrise. Be safe out there guys.

We are doing the same and waiting. Guys will learn their lesson running in the fog, down here. We left Tigerland one night in college and drove down on a day like today. Took off in 20' alum CC, with 4 pirouges, 4 guys, 2 labs and gear. Got across river no problem, running bank we mash it, catch up with the wake of a crew boat and nearly sink the boat. I can tell you there was a few guys at launch that had a high pucker factor yesterday for sure.

I avoid the fog now days. I used to run it all the time when I was younger with no radar. To cross the river I used to kill my engine and listen for boats. If I didn't hear anything I would cross. Now I just stay home.

We used to do the same but from bogies and we'd run to port eads in a 13ft bass tracker. dumb as hell.
