My homebrew club is hosting a festival of sorts where each team has to brew a beer with a specific ingredient. We have a LA ingredient theme but we have a good number of teams this year and I have run out of ideas for ingredients to put into the hat. So what comes to mind when you think of LA food/agricultural products?

Here is what I have so far: Strawberries, Citrus, Peaches, Pecans, Cane Syrup, Rice, Red Beans, Cayenne

Thistle, persimmon, pecan, fig, blackberries, satsuma, mustard greens, honeysuckle, blueberries, blood orange

Not quite sure how a mustard green beer would come out though.

Is this for Iron Brewer?

Some of this fruit is going to be hard to find in the middle of January.

And as long as you don't mind me manipulating the drawing I will put Crab Boil on this list. Maybe give it to LSUGRAD and his team.

The citrus ones should be easy to come by. So many homegrown ones for sure.

I've actually been contemplating doing a beer with crab boil in it. I think it would be interesting. But maybe I should wait and let an Iron Brewer team do it.

Yikes... these will be horrid to get stuck with.

There is a lot Sorghum, Corn, and Soybeans grown in Louisiana

Although corn is probably way to straight forward for this competition.

Yep. Cucumbers would be fine with me.

Definitely better than getting stuck on Team Okra or Team Cabbage.

Although Team Okra will probably get the support of the resident FDB 'it's not gumbo without okra' zealots.
