this is shaping up to be the worst season ever to date for me. And I thought nothing could be as bad as last year.

Stats:
19 total hunts
8 scratches
Most killed in a hunt 3

Turrible

Fine first split. Opening day of the second split was pretty good. But we're pretty slow now. Hope the incoming front will help. I'm in Jones.

Same as Otis but in richland parish.

We are on a 20 year low for quantity and quality.

8 total hunts
6 scratches
Most ducks killed 7

Problem is that we are seeing ducks, they just have no intention of coming down from mars

Two scratches this year. Which is same amount I had ALL of last year. Season has been terrible outside of opening weekends. Finally found some mallards today hopefully they still there Wednesday.

What gripes me is that every year USFW claim it to be a record year for ducks. Higher than the long term average. But we never see the duck numbers to match it. The best years I have seen were in the late 90s and it has not been the same since. This year has been abysmal.

Do you think USFW inflates the duck number count just to keep us buying licenses and stamps? I will still hunt 25 times a season but I wonder how many others buy their licenses and stamps based on the duck forecast.

Averaging 4 per hunt. Better than last year but the burd decline last few yrs is frustrating

This is my 3rd season duck hunting and it's been by far my best. Made 15 hunts, averaging almost 4 birds/hunt. All public land in SELA and CENLA. Limited twice in the basin and twice in Venice. Scratched once, got 1 mottled duck on another trip. Also spent two days scouting with no intent of hunting. I'm sure it won't keep up at this pace but so far I've been extremely fortunate and the season has been great for me.

It's been getting a lot slower lately tho. I think I need to do some more scouting to find some more productive areas.

Weisertiger has our official stats, but the numbers are horrendous. We had a good opening weekend of the first split and has been very little shooting since then.

i went solo this morning and got 3 (all spoonies) best hunt since opening weekend.

Season thus far has been just ok. I haven't hunted my blind more than 10 or 12 times due to work. When I got a blind full of people we have struggled to kill birds simply because there aren't enough working our field for me to call the shot in front of everyone. We have had some good hunts and I've done well by myself but the shots I've taken to kill my birds have been some tough ones. We struggled with water levels the entire first split. From what I hear the farmer has got it right now but I haven't hunted my blind yet for the second split.

Best in at least 15 years. Have yet to hunt over two hours and have yet to kill less than 24 birds. Someone would have to pinch me to make it any better than what it's been.

+1 on the setting up right

I'm going to start going outside the box... Woodie only hunts... Be done by 7:30 and my whole day isn't wasted.

Very few dekes, no mojos... Just me my dog... I'll take my three pass shot woodies and head home every day all day.

:disclaimer:

I'm limited to where I can hunt. I have access to mud boat and fourwheeler but my friends tend to use them a bit.

I'm basically a Sherburne Wareior this year

5 hunts.

Scratched once. Had one hunt with a couple woodies in a WMA. Other hunts were in Delacroix and we did great. 3 man limits by 800

Yes deke spreads need to look like the ducks resting or feeding I. Your immediate are in number, species and array

And ditch the mojo
