Get power seats so you can raise them. Seats still sit too low and hurt ya back bah....

Nah, see on the left where it says 0 mpg...that's the current mpg while you're driving.. It's always fluctuating unless you have it on cruise and are on flat ground.

Gotcha.

It's really not a possibility but only once in a blue moon. If it was such a fuel efficient truck it would be EPA rated higher. Also, those computer numbers should always be taken with a grain of salt.

No it isn't. I've already mentioned a simple reset of the mpg comp. can inflate those numbers. I can get my EVIC screen to show the same numbers in my Ram.

Damn the best I've gotten in my 2014 Sierra was 24.5. And that was going 70 between BR and NOLA

Anybody with a 14 Sierra have a driver seat that feels lose? I swear every time I make a hard turn it feels like it's shifting. I'm thinking maybe the seat heater is loose and shifts around.

I was loaned a 2015 silverado 1500 crew cab while my truck was in for maintenance...

note:didn't try to find out the gear ratio,

My work cargo trailer weighs in at 9500lbs loaded

truck handled the weight pretty good handling/suspension wise.

acceleration was not that great.

took a long while to get up to speed without flooring it on the interstate...once up to speed...well almost...(68mph) it would not go any faster without it downshifting and the tach hitting 3000rpms to keep it at 72-75mph...it would never shift up...

cruising empty at 80mph would get me 19mpg's

cruising empty at 75 would get me 23mpg

this was on the instant economy screen...

this one was more of an empty hwy cruiser...

like I said...I don't know what the gear ratio was...it could have been a highway gear ratio...who knows?

main dislike: the fricking head rest is too far forward...you can't hold your head straight up without the back of your head touching...it was annoying to say the least...this was an LT model with cloth and front bench...
Maybe the Leather buckets offer a tilting headrest?

If not, then a new truck from GM is out of the question for me...

Truck rode smooth as glass and real quiet.

other beef: the new car smell...I don't know what the hell was out-gassing from the new textiles in the truck, but I found myself dizzy/nauseous a few times in the past three days from it...

To answer OP, you can expect about 17mpg average from a 4x4 and 19 from a 2 wheel drive.

I've babied my old man's 2013 4x4 to 22mpg average on a trip, but that was as close to 100% interstate as you can get (fill at on ramp, drive 140 miles, fill at off ramp and check. It)

Thanks for the replies fellas.

Downshift I'm thinking that sounds about right.
That actually gives it better highway than my DB Tacoma which is averaging 18-19 on highway these days with tire upgrade. Got 21/hwy new but this engine just won't crack 22 without a tailwind and flat land. Puzzling that the V-6 in that truck doesn't do better.

If the Sierra can get that on the hwy or better at almost 1,000 lbs heavier , and with those incentives, I just might have to pull trhe trigger.

I'm not into pretty trucks much but this one had me locking down the brakes to rubberneck as I was about to drive off the lot looking at the Canyons.

Well if you look at the price of fuel vs the price of the truck it's going to take a really long time to make an appreciable difference with only a 2-4mpg increase.

Overall cost of ownership is what you need to check if you want to make a decision based on money.

I think you'd be satisfied with it. My old man's 2013 is a very nice rig. It pulls very well and rides good. The transmission is awesome.

I've had mine for 7 months and have put 27,000 miles on it. I'm a contractor so I have a trailer behind me half the time and I also leave it running will not driving a lot. Average is 17.9 over that many miles. I have a mini excavator that weighs around 12,800 lbs that I pull with it and I'm very impressed with how it handles the load. Good trucks

Pops just got the 2014 Silverado. Loves it. I've driven it a few times, towed the boat and gone through fields at the camp.

Great truck.

I've got an all terrain with a 6.2 and a 3.42 rear end. The truck has been very good but I won't say it's been flawless. I will say this though. All of the little problems that were at one time driving me crazy have seemingly fixed themselves. I still listen and feel for them so it's not that I have gotten used to them.

I've put 34000 miles on mine since March. The truck seems to be wearing quite well. The transmission is still seemless when not at 100% wot. The one feature I've found that puts the gmc/chevy above the others is the traction control and the ability to turn it off. A child could drive this truck at 100 miles an hour in a driving rainstorm and the truck will not let the arse end come out from under you. Very good feature for those of us driving a lot and interstate speeds.

The 6.2 with the little nic knacks I have on it is very fun. I do not get tired of messing with people that think they can out run me. It will go as fast as you want. And then some.

wish I would have gotten the 6.2 instead of the 5.3 for the negligible fuel difference. not sure what my average is, but I get almost 550 miles to a tank on a 26 gallon tank, and my little meter reads around 16 when im towing.
