Waiters is becoming a caricature of himself. This happens from time to time when young players see their roles diminish.

Kevin Love has Antwan Jamison syndrome, big numbers as the only name in town on a shitty team but doesn't produce regularly when put when other stars.

Add in shitty defense disease, and 100% agree. I wish him the worst of luck. He was trying to hand pick which team he was traded to, and the NBA bent over for him (and LeBron). So frick everything Cavs. bullshite stuff.

I'd imagine other teams just run pick and rolls with their 1 & 4 and Irving and Love how no idea how to defend it.

You can take LeBron out of the game both offensively and defensively on this team a lot easier than you could in Miami.

And I think people severely underrate Bosh's rim protection abilities. Teams like Memphis would own a team like Cleveland. Gasol and Randolph would destroy Cleveland with a crazy amount of easy buckets.

Cavs are 9.9 points per 100 better on defense with Miller off the floor vs. on... and he's NOT the worst on/off defensive guy (Kyrie)

That's an alarming stat.

Love needs a Asik/Birdman/Robin Lopez/Chandler/Dieng(ironic) type player behind him.

If Cleveland can find that type of guy, then they ar golden.

Varejo and Waiters are going to have to go though.

It takes time to win in the nba. Will they get it figured and win 50+ Games? Yes. Will they win the east? No. Next year will they win the next year east? Yea. Will they win the title next year? Yea.

How about the coach? A guy who never coached in the NBA before. Weird hire.

Who probably hasn't had much of an issue with offensive chemistry in his coaching career.

Or much familiarity with the term "defense."

Didn't they just give Varejao and nice "little" chunk of change?

LINK

Seems a little overpaid. What teams would want him? He has odd production over his career. Numbers got much better, but the Cavs were abysmal during his best seasons. His injury history seems questionable as well.

(10'-11')-31 games played
(11'-12')-25 games played
(12'-13')-25 games played
(13'-14')-65 games played

Only played more than 70 games 3 times in his 11 year career.

For comparison Dwight Howard has played over 70 games 9 times.

Even Tracy McGrady played over 70 games 6 times.

Dwayne Wade has done it 5 times in 11 seasons.

Gilbert Arenas did it 5 times in 10 seasons.

Cleveland signed its starting center to a contract extension on Friday. A league source told ESPN's Brian Windhorst the deal is worth $9.6 million next season, $10.3 million ($9.3 million guaranteed) in 2016-17 and $10 million (nonguaranteed) in 2017-18

LeBron looks like he came back to just troll Cleveland fans really. His effort has been laughable. Defense has been non-existent.
I'm wondering if the rest of the Cavs will, at some point, get tired of Lebron. He's talking an awful lot about being patient with them, teaching them, and so on...

While it all makes sense and is logical, I just wonder if guys will just have enough of it at some point, especially talking about it openly to the media.

Then you throw in his body language(and i'm not one to usually point out body language, but it's so obvious), and him not giving near the effort he should be, I'm thinking there could be a huge team meltdown fairly soon. That being said though, it could be a good thing that gets the team on the right page.

They do have defensive issues that, while they can improve, i'm not sure if they can overcome to become the best team in the league.

Yep.

His comments about how they haven't hit rock bottom, and that rock bottom is "being up by 15 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals and losing, or being up 2-1 in the Finals and losing 3 in a row."

Just seems kind of irrelevant and silly to bring up. No one in Cleveland or on this Cavs team wants to hear about his time in Miami.

While I understand he's just trying to draw from his personal experiences to teach and motivate his current teammates, I'm not sure he's going about it in the right way. Especially, as you said, talking with the media about it.

He needs to try harder. Waiting around for Irving and Love to figure things out, while not putting forth the necessary effort yourself, isn't going to accomplish anything.

They are one of the worst defensive teams in the league. LeBron and Marion are like the two good defenders on the team and LeBron's been shite on defense this season.

They are relying on Love as a rim protector. He's basically completely eliminated the mid-range shot from his arsenal.

Their offense is still extremely basic and is being run by a PG who doesn't enjoy passing.

Their bench blows.

Since this team was formed they've had an enormous target on them and that is hard to deal with when majority of the roster has never had to play a meaningful minute in their careers.

I think that about sums it up

I figure Lebron will try to turn it on halfway through the season but when two of your three "superstars" are basically bad defenders in Kyrie and Love you've got a poor start on defense.

I'm idly wondering what this team would look like with mike d'antoni at the helm. I don't think they could win a championship but they would be interesting

Doesn't matter who you are, the "I'm trying to teach everyone how to win" stuff he's talking about every day has to get annoying.

I haven't watched them much this season, but from the little I have, I have no idea why they don't just constantly run P&R with Irving/Bron and Bron/Love.

There's still no answer for Irving and Love being so terrible on defense, just so bad. I play DFS,a nd I'm just pounding the point guard for whoever plays CLE every night and doing quite well lol.
