Had dinner with my parents and their friends along with their kids (12-15 yrs old).

Steak restaurant.

Kids were smacking, chomping loudly, chewing w/mouth open, holding the steak with their hands and forks pulling from it.

Me and my wife are sitting at the table with emotionless faceless looks on our faces.

I turned towards my mom with the same face and she read my mind on what we were thinking and she gave me that look of (don't say anything and keep to yourself).

After dinner, we left and when me and the mrs got into our car, she went woooooooooo. That was fun.

What's are yalls stories?

Not really your place to correct someone else's kids

I know.

But if it was family members, I would light them up.

I refuse any more invites to dinner. Problem solved.

You should imitate the most annoying child. When someone asks you to stop, just let them know you'll stop when the kid stops. Works every time.

If the kids were 8 or under, I'd give em a pass. But 12-15? That's rather advanced to not have mastered basic table manners. Sadly, it's becoming the norm. MBA students have to be taught basic etiquette in order to survive a business dinner without embarrassing themselves. The fast food/eat in the car/grazing/overscheduled parenting style has squeezed out regular family dinners, which is when such skills are repeatedly reinforced.

No stories but I was brought up in a house where good manners were stressed at the dinner table. I refuse to eat with some friends because their table manners are horrendous.

Loud eating
Elbows on the table
Hats in a restaurant
Cutting food and not taking the time to put the knife down and place fork back in other hand

Things I notice people doing that annoy me

While imagining myself karate chopping each kid in their throats, I would be jealous of their blissful ignorance of manners.

I remember as a kid we were on a vacation and we stopped to Shoneys and my grandma ripped me about wearing my hat at the table.

And then my dad ripped me for my grandma ripping me about my hat. Lol

Why rip your grandmother for teaching you proper manners?

He didn't rip my grandma.

He basically yelled at me some ore after my grandma yelled at me.

I rebel against this one. It makes no sense and I see no reason this would offend anyone.

Look at the kids. Then say "Bless their hearts"
it's the southern way if they aren't your kids.

I would never correct anyone or anyone's kids, but yeah...jesus. If I would have done that, my parents would have smacked me.

When I was about 9 years old I was on a trip to south Texas and we ended up going down into Mexico. We were eating in a restraunt and they were doing work on it at the time. There were guys in hard hats rolling wheelbarrows full of bricks between the tables and you could hear sledgehammers hitting walls. Well there was this little old lady sitting at her table with a plate of food in front of her and she was just staring at me. In a minute a waiter came by and told me that I had to remove my cap because I was offending the lady at the next table.
I remember looking at my dad like is he serious and he just said take your cap off boy.
