Saw some reports indicating Michigan has real interest in Butch Jones if they strike out on their top tier list.

It made me think...is Michigan really a better place than Tennessee now? A few years ago...maybe. But now?

Let's take a look:

Advantages of Tennessee over Meatchicken

1. Much better facilities
2. Closer to southern athletes
3. Better conference
4. Easier to recruit IMO with GA as a neighbor
5. Brutal schedule with Bama every year now.
6. THe state of Michigan is a shithole

Advantages of Michigan over Tennersee

1. National appeal
2. Much easier schedule making a winning season easier
3. Better uniforms
4. True rivalry game with tOSU.
5. Better in-state talent

I would honestly pick Tennessee, let alone staying at Tennessee.

What do you say MSBers?

Michigan. Weaker conference, bigger name.

Not hard to guess you've never been to Ann Arbor.

But dude seriously what's your deal with Michigan, you have a history of these types of posts.

But where can Michigan get its recruits?

Tennessee has a lot more talent these days from Nashville and UT is starting to see some of that talent (Hurd, Malone, BArnett, etc.)

Michigan has very little in-state talent and what little they do have they have to share with MSU.

UM, not even really much of a debate.

Better recruiting base, inferior conference, tons of money in the program.

True, but the cold and Detroit is what is making me say that.

I have no hate for Michigan at all. I wish they'd become dominant again. OSU/Mich was one of my favorite games of the year. They just intrigue me is all.

Michigan has been awful for 4 years and has still recruited extremely well. Recruiting will never be a problem.

Tenn

They have every advantage over Michigan. And the biggest, recruiting.

No reason for a good coach to not win at Tenn, with the facilities, fanbase, recruiting areas, and lure of SEC.

This is purely an opinion question, so there really isn't a wrong answer.

I think you need to give Jones at least 2 more seasons. By then the rosters is fully his, and depth should be there.

FACT. (North of Midland though) Last I checked, Ann Arbor is a little too close to Detroit for comfort.

Why is it funny to say better facilities at UT? If we're talking stadium only, then yeah UM wins easily. However, UT has one of the nicest practice facilities and training facilities in the entire country. Probably top 2 in the SEC right there with Bama. You should probably do a little research before laughing something off. It's the reason Tenn is broke.

Michigan and it's not even close.

Michigan has better infrastructure to win in every sport.

There isnt a single facility that UT can say they have a better one than Michigan outside of baseball stadium. Plus Stephen Ross just donated 100 mill to Michigan and told them to build a new football facilities that blows ORegons out of the water.

???? From where? ND and OSU are pretty much owning all the northern recruits.

Tennessee has it's own state which produces better talent than Michigan (and no, most of it does not come from Memphis lately) and they're neighbors with GA who is a far superior state of talent compared to Ohio.

Not to mention the other nearby states like NC, SC, VA, and FL.

Michigan has a few Cass Tech players and northern Ohio. Cincy is pretty much off-limits to them.

I say there is a pretty decent chance that Butch Jones now realizes that he can't win there.

Based on results, perhaps UM should reevaluate how they offer kids. MSU players have been far more athletic and better than UM players since like 2009.

Meh. I think a few of those players were rated 4 stars only because Michigan went after them. How else does Michigan recruit like 12 4-5 star olinemen in 3 years and still have a turnstile at the position? IT can't be that bad of coaching can it?
