Seemingly better than any other school. Is it raw talent, coaching, player drive, both? It's incredible all the starters we have around the league right now.

You know they can't be getting developed by Miles right

Seriously though, it's a combination of talent, coaching, and playing against good competition in conference IMO.

Pro style system on offense, and our defensive players are studs, which makes the transition easier.

That's kinda what I'm thinking as well. The jump in talent from one league to the other is not as drastic as it is for other teams.

LSU's coaches seem really emphasize getting players ready for the next level. Some coaches could care less what happens to their players at the next level as long as they're winning games.

The main difference in my mind is that lsu's system is simple and the players win with talent. So players that aren't nfl caliber don't get drafted.

Other schools that use more sophisticated schemes can inflate a player's perceived ability. Therefore, they get drafted and underperform.

Good point. They play for stats, we don't.

I believe it is for a lot of reasons:

1. the system we run, both offense and defense 2. the competition level
3. And probably the best reason, is that the players are very talented to begin with...

I still like HCB's comment tho, they are very hungry when they leave LSU!!!

Pro style everything. Execs know that even an LSU backup is likely to be more NFL ready than others.

1. Coach em up; Chavis, Cam, Wilson, etc.. Now add Grimes
2. Competition level: play against the best
3. Toughness; Miles develops it better than anyone, physical and mental
4. Strength and conditioning and work ethic: coach M

La players have and will always be underrated...even though some are rated high...overall, many fall through the cracks.

The level of talent is most important, but the consistent play in practice and in games against the best develops that talent significantly. Additionally, in the SEC West, you see pretty much every kind of offensive scheme, from the Auburn gimmicks to the Bama or Arky old school approaches to the hybrid attacks. All in all, the level and variety of competition prepares the players as well as they could possibly be prepared.

They are talented, smart and very goal directed. Not sure where that would come from, but there you have it.

They're talented on their own, but smart and goal oriented because of their coaches.

I think in Bama's system they have a lot of busts because they have no ceilings in the NFL. It's more that Saban/staff get their players to maximum ability in college. LSU leaves ceilings available for the NFL so they transition easier over because they have more potential. It's not a knock on LSU's coaching but rather a compliment on how well Bama's system is on preparing their players. I think LSU likes to recruit athletes with more raw talent and higher ceilings. Combine that with the fact we can't get anyone to stay past their junior year and it's easy to see why they blossom in the NFL. A guy matures every year in college but if you can't keep them 4 years you'll never see their ceilings hit anyway. Some guys hit the ceiling quick and they're topped off but at LSU they recruit high ceilings.

so let me get this straight...Bama maximizes players in college so they have no room to grow in NFL, which turns them into busts? LSU doesn't develop as well, plus player leaves in 3 years, which leaves plenty of ceiling, thus LSU players transition nicely to NFL??

Yea, that makes plenty of sense...
