The Green Album by Weezer

I have no idea why it was so well received when it's such to lazy arse pop album. Every f-ing song seems created specifically for 1950s radio w/how short and simple they are. The guitar "solos" are a joke and may as we'll not be there. After so much time off I expected much more for the follow up to Pinkerton but instead we got Rivers throwing in the towel and selling out.

I'll second Chinese Democracy by the Axl Rose Band.

The thing was, it's not that bad of an album. It's just frustrating when you wait a decade for an album that's easily forgotten two weeks after you hear it.

Word. I remember actually liking quite a few of the songs when I first got the album. I'm kind of afraid to go back and listen to it now, out of fear of realizing what I put my friends through back then.

Pretty solidly my favorite REM album but it does have a different feel than what they'd done to that point.

My pick:

Three Days - Pat Green

After listening to the greatness of George's Bar this over-produced and synthesized album is just a turd. But I guess it worked for him, he sold a lot more albums after going Nashville.

i'm late, but i'm sure everyone's already said 10,000 days by tool

most of the music sounded like throw-away or rehearsal riffs from lateralus, and the lyrics were retarded. YA MUSTA BEEN...HIGH...YA MUSTA BEEN...HIIIIGH. they went from teaching calculus and fibonacci sequences to making the audience do it's own long division by giving us pieces of two songs we were supposed to overdub ourselves.

People who routinely shite on this album are either under the heavy influence of mind-altering substances or are just absolute assholes.

My God, it would have been impossible to exceed the accomplishments of Lateralus. That album is viewed by many fans and critics as the pinnacle piece of progressive music.

Anyone who expected 10,000 Days to continue the upward trend of quality from each Tool release to the next, which had been characteristic of their career to that point, just didn't have realistic expectations. Personally, I consider Animals to be a letdown after following Dark Side of the Moon and you could also make the same argument for Farewell to Kings (after 2112) and Signals (after Moving Pictures).

First off, "Wings for Marie" and "10,000 Days" are two of the most powerful and emotionally stimulating pieces of music I have ever heard. Maynard's final lyrics in Pt. 2 have literally brought me to tears.

Aside from that masterpiece there are also some brilliant lyrics throughout the entire album and some amazing thematic concepts (e.g. man's inherit sin of envy, being abducted by aliens but failing to remember the specifics of the visit, society's obsession with the violence of television, etc.). "Rosetta Stoned" is just brilliant in every sense of the word and "Vicarious" has some of Adam Jones' best riffs to -date.

Plus, you have "Right in Two", "Jambi", and "The Pot" which are all phenomenal in their own respect. "The Pot" is one of Tool's highest charting singles to date and yet manages to maintain its artistic integrity and avant-garde status.

How can people seriously dislike this album when it is better than just about every other musical release since 2006?

Maynard is a douche and he didn't even try with the lyrics on that album.

Care to elaborate? I could not be further at odds with this opinion.

For me it's St. Anger from Metallica in 2003. WTF was that?

A band without a bass player, a rhythm guitarist/singer with alcoholism, a drummer with an unwavering ego and faltering talent, and an uninspired group of musicians with no more drive.

I'm guilty of this as well. It's still hard to believe how much a single man's ego completely ruined the namesake of one of the greatest hard rock bands in existence.

My dad and his friends always talk about how when 1984 was released by Van Halen that most people were expecting David Lee Roth and company to finally release a live album. Obviously, the album wasn't very well-received by many of the group's fans.

WTF? 1984 is a classic album. Are you serious?

I'm dead serious. Eddie traded in his guitar for the keyboards and Van Halen lost their edge as a result.

1984 pales in comparison to the first five albums when you look at the elements which made their sound so appealing in the initial years.

Keep in mind that I am not saying it's their worst or anything. Several that came after are clearly terrible. It's just that I was very disappointed with it considering what came before.
