Mine has no safety at all, outside of internal design.

The variations are:
quote:

Heaviest LEM: (V2), with the heavy TRS + heavy FPBS + heavy hammer spring = 7.3-8 lbs
Medium LEM: (V4), with heavy TRS + light FPBS + heavy hammer spring = ~6-6.5 lbs
Light LEM: (V1), with light TRS and FPBS. Heavy hammer spring = ~4.5-5 lbs
Lightest LEM: (not official variant), light TRS + light FPBS + light hammer spring = ~3.5-4 lbs

HK sells the light firing pin block spring and light trigger return spring, and they sell two different light hammer springs now. So there's more options than quoted, I think that was a 12# hammer spring, they sell a 10# now as well. I'd have Gray's decide on the optimal setup if I go the action rework route.

All of the options and shipping only comes to $40, so I may just get all of the springs and mess with it.

I want this Dawson front sight.

Dawson sights blow the TFOs out of the water. I have a set on my 1911 (fiber front *green* and flat black rear) and they are super sharp and easy to use.

Are the Dawson's Fiber optic only? The VP9 will also be doubled as home defense so I wanted the tritium. I don't like the white tritium sights.

I went with the safest gun for me to operate in a time of extreme need. No safety, grip, trigger, or lever, and it has a hammer so I don't glock leg myself.

Sounds like a firearm safety course might be of benefit.

ETA: I typed that using my most pleasant personality.

It's an easy gun to operate safely. My quote sounds like it doesn't have a grip, trigger, or lever, when in fact it does have a grip and a trigger.

Was just messing with you (only 'cause I'm not a fan of external safeties on a SD handgun).

And I have relatively little personal experience with HK's (but a number of people whom I respect consider the HK's to be exceptionally reliable).

Is your HK a P7 ? (That's the one that always comes to mind when I think "HK grip safety").

No, my gun doesn't have a safety...outside of that the trigger has to be fully depressed for the gun to fire. Was just commenting on my quote, I think I should have used a semicolon after the no safeties comment. Ambi mag and slide releases, bobbed hammer.

I want a 1911 now. Probably a Colt or Dan Wesson. Can't decide between govt or commander. Probably government.

Is it blasphemous to get it in 9mm? I don't wanna buy different ammo.

Damn, your HK hasn't even arrived. Your 1911 HAS to be a 45.

There a variety of Dawson sights out there. Go to DawsonPrecision.com to see what they have. You should be able to find what you're looking for.

Not necessarily but there are much better handguns for 9mm in general. Namely, anything with double stack capacity.

For a fun range toy, a 9mm 1911 sounds like a good time. But for a defensive piece, I think better options exist. Then again, this is only my opinion, which is humble.
