Will be spending a few days in Sonoma next week and was wondering which restaurants and wineries are not to be missed. Went to Napa valley a few years ago and so I will probably be spending most of my time in Sonoma valley this go round. TIA

Benziger and their spin off, Imagery are must sees. The owners are old hippies and a much different experience than the normal winery tour/tasting room. A few years ago my wife took me to Cali for my fortieth and Mike benziger told us after the tour to come to a bar in downtown glen Ellen. It was friday afternoon and he always takes his employees for drinks but there was one rule: NO WINE ........he said they taste enough wine during the week.. Great people

I dined a few weeks ago at Rustic, the restaurant at Coppola's winery in Geyserville, and it was a great experience.

Benzinger has a fabulous tour and I highly recommend.

A very underrated winery is called St Francis. Google it. We loved it, sat on the patio and listened to music and looked over the mountains. We still buy their wine today

Cafe la Haye and the red grape are both really good restaurants.

I absolutely LOVED Rustic. It was amazing. We even got to see Francis Ford Coppola come in for lunch while we were there.

I agree. We had dinner at one of the tables outside and it was fantastic. What a fine place.

Kenwood was pretty good. Had some free tasting tickets and ended up buying some of their reserve bottles.

There is a bar/restaurant in hedlesburg that was good... Name slips from me at the moment. Had a nice outdoor area to sit. I liked Arista and hop kiln (they have a chef that brings out little tastings to go with the wine). Both had nice and knowledgeable people. Merry Edwards felt like I was in a room with a bunch of snooty people from ole miss... Wine was good, but the experience wasn't.
Hanna is small and nice also liked Joseph phelps (freestone) it's near bodega bay.
We did several others as well. We stayed in bodega bay and ate at several of the little places there. The duck club at bodega bay lodge is real good and terrapin creek in bodega bay if I remember correctly either had Michelin stars or a James beard winner. Good food.
And of course if you like beer you have to go to russian river and drink some Pliny. Langunitas is really good as well.

If you make it there, then you ought to hit up both Rochiolli and Arista. My friend is one of the owners of Arista and part of a side label (Mark David). That side label is a Sav Blanc that is straight up delicious.
