How would a libertarian world deal with a serious epidemic?

You need things such as the CDC to effectively track, contain, and target dangerous disease agents. How would everyone be made to comply with safety procedures? How would people without the means be able to have access to a disease control company?

It really can't.
There are scenarios for each form of government that they are inherently ill equipped to handle

I agree, this is a weak area for the libertarians. Anytime "big government" is actually needed the libertarian ldeology runs into this problem.

I don't think most libertarians would have a problem with taxes paying for things like the CDC. That's more of a full blown anarchist issue.

As if the superstate can be trusted.

Extinction would be one option.

I lean libertarian on several issues, outbreaks arent one of them. If your behavior (ie leaving quarantine after diagnosis of illness) can harm others, any reasonable person can see a role for government.

Why would something like Ebola not fall under collective self-defense?

CDC's job in this country would be much easier if we could control and contain our borders

There wouldn't be any roads so the disease wouldn't be able to spread.

Sorry, don't see that anywhere in the Constitution.
What's more important? Survival of the human race? Or the Constitution?
If you give the wrong answer you hate America.

Bullcrap. THere would be plenty of good roads at affordable prices - and the ones that carried disease on them would automatically be shut down by the FREE MARKET. Econ 101!
(Death laughs in the face of ALL political schemes)

I'm imagining a walking dead scenario here

1. Go to Sams and stock up on gloves, masks, and canned food
2. Go to guns and boobs (that store would exist in my libertarian world) and buy AR 15 ammo and a flamethrower.
3. Go home sit on front porch and watch the grass grow

I can almost guarantee that the reaction of the 'one size fits all' superstate would get more people killed than the disease would.

Do nothing. Epidemic culls the herd. Survivors profit. $$$

3. Shoot first, don't ask questions.

Libertarianism doesn't equal anarchism. The idea of libertarianism on this board has been hijacked by the anarchists. There is a strain of libertarianism that acknowledges a place for gov in our lives.
